Saw Huckabee the other night on the tube, seems like a very smart dude and just made good sense......damn, the guy was just off my radar or I just didn't listen close enough. I'm interested on your thoughts of him? I get the feeling his campaign would have gotten more traction than McCain's has so far? Thoughts? |

I really like a lot of the things Huckabee said. He was for a total revamp of the IRS, strong defense and of course pro life. I voted for Romney in the primaries because I thought he was more electable and better on the financial side of things. Huckabee is a very smart guy but doesn't come across that way for some reason. I don't think anyone out of this area really took him seriously. He is a solid conservative who believes in smaller govt. and free market. He would have made a good president. A little off topic, did you happen to hear any of McCains speech at the Truman library today? I thought it was one of his better speeches with more substance than I have seen him display in a while. He came across very presidential and I hope he keeps it up, he is going to need that if he has any chance.

No, I didnt see it..sorry. But I do agree that McCain needs a little more fire.It seems he is not using the obvious weapons he has......the 90 million Obama's boy made on the mortgage scandal and the friend (his name slips me right now) involved in the bombing. McCain should scream this stuff from the top of his lungs, along with the fact that the democratic philosophy of spending will never work during this recession. Time to take off the gloves IMO. |

No he is not. I like Huck, and think he is a good guy, but he is not a economic conservative or free market guy. He fueded with the Republican Party all the time here in Arkansas, because some of his policies were pretty progressive. I don't agree with everything he did, but I will admit the the state is better off now than it was before he took office. |

Thanks for that. I was only going on what my perceptions were during the primary season. I do like a lot of the things he stands for and I was under the impression that he had done pretty well as the Gov. there. |

Yeah he talks a good talk, but when you look at his economic policies, for the most part they aren't all that conservative. That is not to say that he is a Dem in Repub clothing. He believes in the basics of cutting taxes and spending, but he also willing to spend money on a social program if he likes it. He is pretty much a neo-con with a different tax plan. |
