Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Gee, you think it would have been worse without the 800 Billion? I can't help but believe that with this "rescue", we have started down a long hill we are not going to hit the bottom of for quite a while. Farewell 401k, I hardly knew yee.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Thankfully I didn't move my 401k funds into the market a couple of weeks ago when I posted here, no thanks to you Aaron. :D
At this point it's impossible to predict how bad the economy will get, and when the markets will start establishing a bottom.

Democrat - repub, what's the difference anymore? I don't see either of them offering any real solutions.

liberal economics caused this mess Hog. Dems are more liberal than republicans in general. Although Bush hasn't been very fiscally conservative, there are still conservative Republicans that exist. None the less, voting democrat guaranteed liberal economics, voting republican gives you a chance.

I agree, but I stand by my assertion that none of these Pols - Dem or Repub- are offering any real solutions right.

dont tell me you actually listened to me for once?

a natural correction is needed; ive said that all along. what we need to be wary of is widespread panic and then a run on the banks. that COULD happen. then it'll get real ugly.

The majority of money I have saved for retirement is in the state TRF (teacher's retirement fund)....and I never have moved it out of the fixed account. Some teachers went heavy into the market and their accounts are taking a huge hit. The TRF actually has a pretty good rate of return on a fixed account -- something like 6%.

My in-laws are retired (father-in-law worked in a steel mill and had a very nice buyout for early retirement) and were living off of money gained in investments...they are taking a huge hit right now and will be dipping heavily into the principal.

Too many people have seen the stock market as a save haven, one that would guarantee big returns. I hope those who have suffered big losses are able to recoupe what they have lost, but I'm pretty happy right now that I played it on the safe side.
