Not only is this guy one of the most overrated, overhyped big-men in the history of basketball, he's also about as durable as a toothpick getting put through a wood-chipper. He got hurt AGAIN last night simply after going up for a rebound. Im waiting for national columnists to keep up their hype-parade though and keep telling us he's the next Shaq or David Robinson. WHat a laugh! First his wrist, know his knee, now his foot. And he's yet to score a single point since being in the NBA. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=oden-081029 |

I've been calling this shot for about 4 years now. He's an excellent basketball player, and very skilled, but there is just simply no way his body can take the amount of work he gets. The guy has been playing intense AAU basketball since he was in elementary school, his legs are now as fragile as glass. He'll be a good basketball player for 3-4 season in the NBA, but after that don't expect to see him very much. |

Well, the guy is 85 Fallen what do you expect. Seriously though, I don't expect him to be the next dominant NBA center, but he does have the tools to be a solid player. If you saw the play, you could see that he actually hurt himself when he landed wrong and rolled his foot. It happens all the time, though these kind of things seem to happen to him more than to most. |

What round do you think Finch will be drafted in the draft? :sarcasm: |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Haha. I just said that to get under your skin. As for Finch....well the kid would have to play first obviously. |

Fallen, Wasn't this the same guy you were so upset over losing to out of state schools. If he was so overrated, why would you want him at IU? I think it was a freak accident and would happen to anyone. He will not be a David Robinson or Shaq but he will have a pretty good career, i believe. |

I knew someone would bring this up. Of course I was upset we didnt get him. He could have made contributions to us at IU immediately, and been very good alongside DJ. But if you ever watched him play in high school, he was timid, and never average double figures in rebounds throughout his entire high school career. For someone that is 7 feet tall and weighs 285 pounds with his athleticism, there is absolutely no excuse for that, hence the overrated branding. I would have taken him any day though over the players you Sampsonites/Davis Apologists wanted instead of Oden like Eli Holman, Ben Allen, and such. And Derek Fisher said Oden's foot never landed on him. |
