Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

Fallen,

Wasn't this the same guy you were so upset over losing to out of state schools. If he was so overrated, why would you want him at IU?
I think it was a freak accident and would happen to anyone. He will not be a David Robinson or Shaq but he will have a pretty good career, i believe.
I knew someone would bring this up. Of course I was upset we didnt get him. He could have made contributions to us at IU immediately, and been very good alongside DJ. But if you ever watched him play in high school, he was timid, and never average double figures in rebounds throughout his entire high school career. For someone that is 7 feet tall and weighs 285 pounds with his athleticism, there is absolutely no excuse for that, hence the overrated branding. I would have taken him any day though over the players you Sampsonites/Davis Apologists wanted instead of Oden like Eli Holman, Ben Allen, and such.

And Derek Fisher said Oden's foot never landed on him.
Well, Oden did average 10 rebounds his senior year, but don't let facts get in your way. And I'm sure Kiefer didn't have him in the ful game during many of the thrashings that they handed teams. They averaged winning by 41 points his senior season. In the state game, he went for 27 points and 26 rebounds. Against Florida and its three NBA first round draft pick big guys, he had 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

For his height, the guy is a freak of an athlete and if can stay healthy (no sure bet), then he'll be a very good NBA big man. Stoudemire had the same exact knee problem and hasn't been a beacon of health, it takes awhile for young big guys to adjust physically.

And if you think anyone wanted Holman or Allen more than Oden, you are just re-writing your own truth. I'm not an IU fan, and I know that people were dying to have Oden. Many fans just don't sulk in a program's failures and hope for the best.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I don't really understand how you can hate on a guy that has won everywhere he has played.

I hate seeing Oden keep getting hurt. If he can just develop physically, I seriously think he can be a big name in the NBA. He is extremely athletic for a 7-footer and was a freakish shot blocker. In fact, many analysts said his game was similar to Bill Russell. And I have to say that at his best, Oden did look live a mirror image of Russell.

Get well soon Oden.

I would argue he is not that athletic but more of a clod and awkward. notice how he runs like a new born yearling.

that injury was his fault by landing wrong and not on someone's foot.

he is not as coordinated as you all think.

I think Portland should go small and move Roy to the 3 for now even though I think he's ultimately going to be a point guard at some point in his career. Aldridge at C, Frye if he's health at the 4 Roy at the 3 and a guy that I've been calling as the next big thing for 3 years Rudy Fernandez at the 2 with Blake at the point.

Side bar: Blake may have the best Jujitsu of anyone in the NBA. Although I did read that Shaq was working out with Royce Gracie over the off season.

I hope that Portland drafts Ben Allen and the signs Cem Dinc as a FA.

Overrated and as fragile as a toothpick in a wood chipper. Haha, you never disappoint.

And for once, you're actually right too!

I've argued tirelessly with my friends about Oden as a pro. I said he's injury prone and will be at best good, but not great. And definitely not one of the all-time best big men like I heard during his season at OSU. But Fallen I thought you were furious when Oden got out of Indiana. Now he's overrated?

I already answered this question. His scoring and rebounding were sorely needed at IU, and he was told to go play at OSU instead. Of course I had a right to be upset. I said he was overrated the whole time. For his size, he doesnt rebound enough, has no post moves, and doesnt have a killer instinct. Defenitely not what it takes to make it in the Pros. He would have helped us tremendously at IU though. You can still help a team, and be overrated you know...

Fallen, if he isn't good enough for the NBA, then why was he the No. 1 pick in the Draft? I'm sorry, FE, but you are really full of shit here.

Don't forget, he's more talented than Eric Gordon
What round do you think Finch will be drafted in the draft?

:sarcasm:
Since Finch is never shown what he can do as a defensive back and has had a lot of injuries, it'll probably only be a couple of round before Curtis Painter.

Sorry Fallen if you already answered my question but I only get a chance to really get on here a couple times a week and I'm pretty out of the loop.

11 and 11 in 24 min, 13 and 8 in 23 min, 22 and 10 in 29 minutes are his last three games, with 9 combined blocks, if anyone is interested. He's got 9 and 7 at the half tonight in 9 minutes of game action.

Odon thoroughly abused the Florida big men in the national final two years ago.
