Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I think I know the answer to the question but I was really interested on your take of Prop 8. I guess it is an expensive and quite close campaign so I just wondered what you thought.

I think Prop 8 will probably pass, due to all of the $$$ flooding in from other states, especially Utah.

I don't give a fuck about whether they call it "Marriage" or not. Just provide equal rights under the law.

Am I in favor of changing the constitution to discriminate against people? NO

Am I in favor of forbidding someone from visiting their "life partner" in the hospital? NO

and all of these ads that the Prop 8 folks are using on TV to claim that all of our children will be forced to learn about gay marriage in schools is horseshit. Shame on them.

It begs the question: If you think being "gay" is a choice, at what age did you decide to make that "choice", and how difficult was that decision for you? It's ridiculous.

mass protests in the streets here in LA

I don't blame them.

Personally and selfishly, I would prefer not to feel obliged to attend more weddings and give more gifts for married people (and you know, those queens have expensive taste)

I just can't agree that it is OK to change the constitution to discriminate aganst people. It smells like fascism to me.

What's next? Changing the constitution to ban inter-racial marriage? Give me a fucking break.

Give them their rights.

And shame on the Mormon Church for funding more than 40% of the campaign with deceptive, fear mongoring ads. They should lose their tax free status.

NLA,

No one has a right to get married. I am single and would be pissed if I had to get married.

We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

marriage is not a right. Gay marriage is not about a right it is IMO gays wanting to be fully accepted. Then they put on a ferry costume and sprinkle picky dust everywhere. I do care if someone is gay. I just think marriage is between a man amd a women. i see no need for gay marriage. The visiting in a hospital crap is bs. I have visited people in the hospital i was not related to. I can see them limiting number of visitors or amount of time based on the patients condition but no due to sexual orientation. NLA we can disagree. This is a philsophical issue not a right or wrong answer. I am just saying if it couldn't pass in Cali there is not alot of support for it.

Exit polls showed that 70 percent of black voters, and a majority of Latino voters, voted yes on Proposition 8, one likely reason why the measure won a slim majority in Los Angeles County, where pre-election polls had suggested it would lose, even though it lost by a huge margin in the Bay Area.

The Obama black vote giveth, and it taketh away.

Not really.

I believe in a compassionate god. I hope he is anyway. I don't really think there is anything wrong with being gay. I just believe in family values and that the base is a man and a women. That is why i do not mess with married women. Why i am not married I enjoy the menu to much. That and i pissed of the lady I wanted to marry but that is another story and i was totally in the wrong.

you are correct lars, the black vote that helped elect Obama (not that he needed it in California) were the most in favor of prop 8, which is a bit ironic, given that the black population has the highest incidence of HIV infection.

But the deceptive and fear mongoring TV and radio campaign ads were funded by the Mormon Church and evangelicals from across the country.

That's cool. I just feel like with the divorce rates where they are for heterosexual couples, it is obvious that people are no linger honoring the "sanctity of marriage". Then when they use that as to why gays shouldn't marry it just sounds farfetched.

Said it in another thread, but if you are going to give them all of the same "contract rights" of a marriage, then just let them be married by religious leaders who will agree to do it.

The thing about the "family base" argument is that they are gay...no kids, except in adoption. And that's a different argument.

That's one of the most ignorant statements I've heard from you BG. I find it despicable that Americans would want to hurt other Americans' happiness just to protect a word. One freaking word. That's all marriage is. And yes, I'm sure a lot of it has to do with acceptance, but it's just ridiculous that we can't afford them that. Most of them have had to go through more torture from people than you could even imagine, and it's just pathetic that we can't accept them. They're not harming anyone no matter how much people want to twist it into the morale fabric of our society, it's not. It's just two people who care for each other. That's it.
