Toledo beat Purdue in Tiller's first game. We also lost to Bowling Green to open the 2003 season. I think Bowling Green also beat Minnesota last year. Miami (OH) beat Northwestern in their 95 or 96 Rose Bowl season also I believe. Thats just off the top of my head. I knew there were some upsets, and figured with as bad as some BT teams have been in the past, that it'd been a possibility. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

answer: yes they were. anyways, i highly doubt anyone has ever lost to 2+ MAC teams in a season. In fact, very few have probably ever played 2 MAC teams in a season.. |

Purdue has. Playing two MAC teams and a 1-aa has been Tiller's scheduling strategy for most of the decade. It's the only reason Purdue has played in bowl games the last two years. Edited by BoilerVision, Nov 5 2008, 03:42 PM.

Painter might be in the running for the mid-major Heisman if he had chosen to attend a MAC school. |

Seems like quite a few teams pad up on MAC schools, especially the lower level ones. Figured, that as bad as some of the lower level teams have been, that it had been a possibility. |

The post wasn't directed at you Cam. Just in general. I'm not sure how any Purdue fan can make fun of IU right now and vice versa. I think the bucket game is going to be the ugliest college football game played all year. |

Well, we are rivals. IU people are making fun of a preseason top 10 and BT favorite team. It happens. A little friendly ribbing never hurt anyone. I still am shocked that IU lost to two MAC schools, albeit two good ones. I really thought IU was turning a corner towards respectability. This season has brought some doubts. As its also brought doubts about Purdue maintaining its respectability. The Bucket Game will either be 65-64 or 2-0. |

That's true. I guess I feel like both are teams are so sad that by ribbing each other we have to actually think about football. Ouch. Can't this season just die? Totally agree with your last 3 lines. |

Compared to the Washington vs Wash St Apple Cup game, the Bucket game will look like the BCS NC game. |

The guy picked last in gym class

Was Toledo ranked at the time? That would explain the loss. |

We did win a bowl game that year. Over a ranked opponent. And we won 9 games. boxing |
