Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

BG, If Aaron would just suck it up and call Brum "he who is right about dinosaurs" like he agreed to in the bet, this would all be over. Brum doesn't care what Aaron believes. Aaron believing dinosuars and man walking side by side is not really the issue. A welched bet is.

In regards to your pictures though Aaron, have your children ever drawn a picture of a scary monster? Mine have, with lots of fangs and 6 eyes, and blood dripping claws. It doesn't mean they exist, but they are fun to draw and make up scary stories about. If everything that had ever been drawn really existed, the world would be a scary place indeed.

If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

I am a Christmas and Easter Catholic so you may take what I say with a grain of salt, but until they find that fossilized dinosaur with a fossilized neanderthal in his belly I will be a bit skeptical.

I don't think the children have just come up with those images out of nowhere. I would assume that the scary images they draw are derived from media/entertainment depictions of monsters that they have seen, wouldn't you? I find it odd that these ancient humans would just randomly conjure up images that so closely match our modern day depictions of dinosaurs.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I have not welched the bet whatsoever.

Please. YOu have side-stepped every post where you might have to refer to Brum personally. You even said something like "some peopl would say" in one post, which sure as heck sounded like a reference to Brum to me. Have you welched? Maybe not, but sure have come awfully close.

And where did the person who put them in a movie or on TV come-up with the image? They were all imagined at some point.

faithful,

i understand the dodging point but in defense of AaronK. I think he made the bet in honor of my efforts. AaronK seems like a decent guy and didnt want to crush my hopes by admitting it was over. I am sure Aaron knew McCain's goose was cooked. I held out against logic because I wanted us to have a chance and we did but we came in a little short. My bet with Brum was easy to live up to because I could care less about thenage and it was really just about eating some crow in public. Maybe AaronK should not have made a bet that ties to his faith. His faith is very important to him and a part of who he is and it is probably hard for to utter those words. he made a bad call not in the bet but what he bet. Betting your pride is one thing but betting your ideals is another. I am sure it would be very hard for Aaronk to utter those words over and over. I would hope Brum would understand that and not try to embarrass AaronK but allow to respond with Brum the all knowing Political teacher would recognize Brum won the bet but not put Aaronk is such a morally compromising situation.

it is possible for religion and science to work together. personally, i think the bible is great for basing personal and moral issues on, but if i want to know something about the world i look in a science textbook.

I don't think they were derived out of thin air. Monsters with fangs...etc etc all take on resemblences of animals or humans, be it a lion who just ripped apart a deer, or a human who just got mamed...etc etc.

I have and will fulfill the bet....there was no mention of side-stepping.

nah BG, I really did think he had a chance of winning, but as I said many times, I suck at predictions and don't really care much for polls, so my opinion was really just that. Maybe the same reason that I pick IU to win it all in my NCAA tourney bracket EVERY FREAKIN YEAR :(

You should probably take this year off! :goiu:
If I were a betting man, which I am not, I would go ahead and go out on that limb and say IU will not get an invite.
