Good catch BG. I forgot about the Patrick, Axleod, Obama connection. Still yet, Kerry does have influence in the senate that a first term guy wouldn't have, and my personal opinion is that Richardson would be better at the job. |

I could see Kerry getting the Sec of Veteran Affairs. I think Gen what the fuck is his name from your state should be Sec Def. Gen the one that made fun of McCain fo rbeing a POW Gen Wes Clark. He should have been the Sec Def under Bush instead of Rummy. Gen Clark would be a good pick for Sec Def in an Dem admin. |

He is a smart guy and not afraid to speak his mind. I don't think he is even being considered though. I think it is pretty much down to hagel and the former Sec of the Navy. His name escaes me right now. Actually I believe what will happen is that Obama will keep Gates or awhile. Maybe even a year before he gets someone. So, who gets it could be a lot different than the names been thrown out there right now. And by the way, he wasn't making fun of him being a POW. All h said was that being a POW doesn't necessarily make you more qualified to be President. Edited by hoosierinhogville, Nov 6 2008, 07:53 PM.

I agree. The bad thing is I googled Hagel you know if McCain won I could have been under Sec of Vet Affairs Hagel was and I have a better military record than he does. He served two years had a Purple Heart Vietnam campaighn medal CIB Army Accomamdation Medal Minus the purple heart which is just a bad luck award I have more than that and 8 years active service. Shit i have Valorous Unit medal. I have others but the team award is what I am most proud of. |

Richardson would be a good choice, but I wouldn't want Senator Swiftboat. |

Like I said earlier, if I was a gamling man, it would be Richardson. I read a column when Rochardson first endorsed Obama and I think the author was right on the mark. He was speculating on whether Richardson cut a deal with Obama, and he mentioned that Richardson had written a book on diplomacy. One of richardson's rules was never give something for nothing. |

Richardson makes sense, known as a diplomatic guy and former UN ambassador. I agree with Hog that Gates might be around for awhile. He's doing a great job and is respected on both sides of the aisle. Would not hurt to have some continuity on Iraq/Afghanistan between administrations and Gates can do that. With all due respect to his service to the country, I don't trust Clark. Something about him just doesn't seem quite right. |

Bob, Clark did a good job in the Balkans is very educated in counter-insurgency. Hagel has two years in the Army. Two years a an enlisted guy no advance schools on strategy. Hagel has 24 months on active duty. You could find a 1000 Captains in the Army with more time in Iraq than he had in the Army. Clark been to numerous schools and and the War college. Would you hire an accountant to advise a CEO no more than two years experience 40 years ago. If it was the first time the CEO went from mid-level management to the CEO's chair. The CEO had no accounting experience. See Rummy as Sec Def with a CEO that kinda had accounting experience Edited by boilergrad01, Nov 7 2008, 01:26 AM.
