Kramer is a junior this year and as Cam already mentioned Fife wasn't a real offensive threat until his senior year. I can't say Kramer=Fife yet. Truthfully I don't know who Kramer has had to goo up against and who he has shut down. Fife continually shut down the best players in the entire country during the most important games. I think Purdue will have to make a run in the tourney before we can say Kramer is on Fife's level. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Their play is similar was my point. Both are smart, physical defenders that really set the tone for their teams defensively. Fife wasn't really an offensive threat for 3 seasons, and right now, Kramer isn't an offensive threat himself at this point. I don't know who Fife shut down, I really didn't watch very intently. Kramer is the best defender in the BT and one of the best perimeter defenders in the country. |

Agree that their play is similar. I actually think that a comparison of Kramer to Fife is a little too narrow. Kramerruns the point and has to control the offense. That's a responsibility Fife never had to worry about. That said, Fife is easily one of the most impressive defensive players I've ever seen. In a 4 game span he shut down Jason Williams, Hollis Price, and Juan Dixon. All three guys were vying for the Player of the Year award. Of course Williams won the award, but I believe Dixon was the best player that year. Fife was in a class all by himself. |

I agree with everything you say, except Kramer doesn't run the point and didn't Dixon score 18 in the title game? Grant gets us into our motion and then it goes from there. Kramer does get the ball in hands more than Fife probably did, but thats just the way our offense goes. I'm excited to see Kramer go up against Curry. Unfortunately, there aren't many good 2 guards in the BT right now. I'd love to see Moore and Kramer go at it in practice though. |

Fife was great, but if you want that fiery attitude, you had to love Michael Lewis. |

Huh, I thought Kramer ran the point a bit. Oh well. That fact that Dixon scored 18 just shows how tough a player he was. I know you are bit younger and probably don't remember that game very vividly, but that was such a tough loss to take. Dixon took just 9 shots in that game (made 6) and had 7 turnovers. I would say of the 6 shots he made at least 3 or 4 of them were off of fast break steals. He was pretty much a non-factor offensively, but he found a way to get his points. When the game was still close, I think there was a point where he stole the ball twice in a row for open layups on the other end. He really hurt us in that game with his defense. Had something like 5 steals and I think was a big reason why we only scored 52. Tough memories... :'( |

I don't recall details very well because I'm not an IU fan. I was 16 at the time, so I remember that whole run. There haven't been too many teams that could get as hot as that team could from 3. I believe that was the year they went ape shit on Illinois and the Kent State game was pretty ridiculous too. God, I thought I'd never have to talk about Dane Fife again. Fuck me. |
