Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

What type of pistols?

I've been debating on picking one up for home defense. Of course people always say that a shotgun is best just for the noise it makes because most burglars take off running when they hear it.
Faithful a shotgun might have a fear factor. I have a Springfield 1911 .45 cal pistol and a Beretta 9mm pistol. I prefer the 9mm because it is what I am more famiar with from my Coast Guard and Army days. One must have respect for what you own. I have alot of training with them and am very comfortable around a gun if you are not I advise taking a weapon training course before purchasing one. Pointing a weapon at someone is very serious business. They are not toys.

Originally before I went to college, I was pursuing a career in the CIA, which is why I was originally a direct admit into the Criminal Justice program. I trained with my local police department my senior year in high school and was a better shot than everyone there except their swat team's sharpshooter along with a month of training with a group of FBI officers prior to college. I haven't owned or shot a gun since then, so I might brush-up a bit, but I'm generally an extremely safe person when it comes to firearms.

The only reason that I've never bought a gun since then is because I don't want the death of someone on my conscious, but I'll likely have a family soon, so I'd be willing for my conscious to suffer for their lives. I'm a pretty strong individual and have had a lot of training in hand to hand combat, so I'm pretty sure I could handle most individuals with a knife or other object, but I've always been worried about a confrontation with an individual that had a firearm.

Back in the day, caveman got robbed at broken-tooth of tyranosaurus rex-point.

People, broken-tooth of tyranosaurus rex doesn't kill people. Not knowing how to use a tyranosaurus rex tooth does. It all comes back to the values that are taught in the cave.

This is never going to get old. Ever.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

No Shit EEL? What were the circumstances?
While I was at Purdue, I worked for Bar Barry's out in Lafayette. I was working one Saturday night along with about four other guys. Normally there was two people on register, two people stocking stuff and filling keg orders, and someone who was in charge. There was nobody in the store shopping, and two of the guys were playing basketball in the back room, and one guy was on the shitter. We had this guy come in about 20 minutes before we closed and he got a pack of Kool cigarettes and left. He came back in about 4 minutes later, and pulled a small handgun out of his ski jacket. He told the other guy Jim to hit the floor and not look up, and told me to open both registers. I took out both cash drawers and I gave them to him. He emptied them and got about $400, and told me to lie down. I am thinking, either this is it or he is leaving, and lucky for my kids(who weren't born for a good 10 more years) he decided to run rather than shoot us. Once he was out the door, Jim screamed and that brought everyone from the back. I got to pick the guy from a lineup about a month later. He had decided to rob a bank, and when his getaway man heard the sirens, he left the guy at the bank. He was never prosecuted for the liquor store robbery. If he had come to the other side of the counter he would have seen the safe(unlocked) with about 15k in it.

I still to this day get nervous when I am the only customer in a store and someone walks in looking around.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed
