Obviously, Dumes and Verdell are our best players. Malik looked OK at times. Williams will be our "AJ Moye" in a couple years (imo).........the "facemask brothers" do scare me a little but I guess we have to play with what we got. Jobe is a big dude but really needs alot of fundemental work.......hands of stone, I hope he comes around. Roth will be average and our two "big white boys" didn't do much to impress. What did you guys think?? |

I was expecting more out of Story. Jones and Dumes were the most impressive IMO. You're right, Jobe needs a ton of work, but damn, he is big. Fink and Moore need to play smart, not turn the ball over, and draw some charges and create turnovers on the defensive end. Williams is solid. Pritchard will have his good games and then games when he doesn't show up. Taber will be the same. |

Pretty much the same feelings I had............I just hope Moore can become 3/4 as good as Coverdale was and then we know he will bring a little production and good ball handling skills..........he looked a little overwhelmed a couple times last night (first game)....it will be kinda nice being able to watch this entire team grow together, we will just have to stomach a few losses on the way........ |

Dumes has taken the role as the leader of the team. He will struggle against great competition but damn, next year will be exciting for his senior year. Story didn't show much lastnight, but from seeing him play before the guy has talent. Quick to judge by just watching his first collegiate game, you guys have to remember he is a frosh. Jones is sloppy with the ball but proves he can cut and get to the line. Another true freshmen.. will develop. Williams was probably the second highest touted recruit we got, so as far as the AJ Moye comment, he has potential to be better. He didn't seem selfish, I can see him becoming the team leader after Dumes graduates. Pritchard showed some poise with his double double. Granted, it was Northwestern State, but their frontcourt was mainly Jr's and Sr's. He will be great by JR/SR year, I think all of us will be surprised at what he develops into. He will take a beating against Harrongody on November 24th though. Taber... love his intensity, but it's obvious he isn't going to be a big threat down low. I expect him to surprise some, but overall he's just an average post player with a little more heart than most. Jobe is HUGE. The dude is cut, but you can tell he's from Gambia. I don't know if he's just that slow, or his awareness is horrible. If somehow that can change throughout the season, then maybe he could be a threat. Otherwise, hopefully that develops in the next year or 2. Overall I'm optimistic about this bunch we have, and even more excited about how they'll play with next years class coming in. It's obvious that we're going to be back in the race sooner than expected, but I'm just proud to see a team of 7 walk-ons and 8 scholarship players getting recognition from the alumni in the stands already. You can just tell Crean is bringing that Indiana swagger back where it belongs. |

I was at the game, and besides Jones's ability to get to the free throw line, I wasn't really too impressed. He may turn out to be a good player, but I just felt like he was moving in slow motion and struggled to even make the first pass to start the offense most of the first half. I also wish he could shoot a little better from 3...but beggars can't be choosers. I also was impressed by Daniel Moore. Pretty solid for a freshman walk-on. |
