Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Just a little info to help make an informed guess on the score.

ELMHURST, Ill. - The IUPUI basketball team has been voted to finish fourth in The Summit League preseason poll, according to the league’s coaches, media and sports information directors. Reigning Summit League champion Oral Roberts gained 13 of the 30 possible first-place votes to earn the top spot, followed by North Dakota State and Oakland, respectively.

ORU edged the Bison by five points and Oakland by eight points for the No. 1 position. IUPUI, coming off a season in which it won a school record 26 games, garnered one first-place vote to finish fourth.

"I think everyone expects us to fall off with George (Hill) being in the NBA," IUPUI Head Coach Ron Hunter said. "We think we’ve got a pretty good team here. We’ve got a deep and talented basketball team.

"We’ve got one of the best shooters in America, two of the top forwards in our league and a lot of depth at every position."

NDSU guard Ben Woodside was named the Summit League Preseason Player of the Year. He was joined on the preseason First Team by Dane Brumagin (UMKC), Robert Jarvis (ORU), Johnathon Jones (OU), Derick Nelson (OU) and Brett Winkelman (NDSU).

IUPUI senior guard Gary Patterson was named a preseason Second Team All-Summit pick and is IUPUI’s top returning scorer this season.

The 5-foot-10 sharpshooter brings back 12.9 points and 2.6 assists per game to accompany his 44.5 percent shooting from three-point range. Patterson also hit a school record 91.4 percent at the charity stripe last season and was one of just two Jags to start all 33 games. He hit 93 threes a year ago and has hit 149 career treys in two seasons at IUPUI.

"No question, Gary’s the leader of this team," Hunter said. "He’s one of the best shooters I’ve ever coached and he’s really a tough minded kid. Plus, I think he’s feeling better physically this year than he’s ever felt, so we’re expecting big things from him."

Patterson was joined on the Second Team by Erik Kangas (OU), Marcus Lewis (ORU), Mike Nelson (NDSU) and Kai Williams (SDSU).

IUPUI is scheduled to open the season at the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer in Ann Arbor, Mich. against Northeastern. The Jaguars will open the preseason with the University of Indianapolis in The Jungle on Thursday, Nov. 6.
