I read in an Indianopolis magazine on the cover stated "Purdue, the New IU". I think that is an insult to IU and even Purdue. First off, why would Purdue follow in big brother's footsteps, they need to make their own niche. Also, how can you compare IU and Purdue, Purdue doesn't have any mens basketball NCAA banners, we have 5. Furthermore, Purdue finished in the lower level of the Big Ten prior to last year, at least the previous 5 years and we will only do that this year. Finally, we will bounce back a lot quicker than Purdue did and not remain in the lower level of the big ten for more than one year. I am not trying to start an argument between DC, LARS and UB. This statement on the cover of a magazine kind of pissed me off. What an insult to both programs. |

They are two different schools. They are not mirror images of each other. Both offer great educations and are respected schools. The article is ridiculous because the point of college is to develop minds and critical thinking/problem solving abilities not to win banners on the court. Do not get me wrong banners are nice but not the end all be all. Graduating enlightened minds ready to face the challenges of tomorrow is what college is all about and sports are a much needed way to distract us from the worlds problems. If Purdue never wins a Bball NC in my lifetime but continues to have top level academic programs I will be happy. If we won 8 titles in a row and the school went down hill academically then i would be upset. |

Being second best in a basketball rich state like Indiana is nothing to be ashamed about. Krean has you on pace to be there in another 3-4 years. |

I'm not sure what magazine it was, but I can absolutely tell you that it is not the mindset of anyone at Purdue. Do we wish to win some basketball titles like IU has in the past? Of course, but we don't want to win them to be like IU, we want to win them because thats the goal of every program, to win a title. My guess is that the author of the article was talking more about the way that Purdue is moving its program forward. Playing with mostly Indiana born kids, playing like a team, motion offense, tough man to man defense, and striving to doing things the right way, both on the court and in the classroom. Does that remind anyone of a powerful program from the 70s and 80s? |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel
