Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

This kid goes through some crazy shit.

After all the turmoil in Indiana:

1) Gets traded on draft night to Seattle
2) Seattle moves to OKC
3) Has surgery on Jaw, out for 4-6 months
4) 13 games into the season, his coach gets fired

wow, turmoil follows this kid. i feel bad for him, but that's what makes him great.

He's still paid. I don't feel too bad for him.

If you're an IU fan and don't like DJ White, you have issues. Period. I don't really even think Purdue fans dislike the kid.

He does always seem to be int he eye of the storm. I only disliked him when we played against him. He was a beast.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

never had a problem with him until he lead the team into a mutiny against a former IU legend and the school itself. he went through a lot, but doing that is inexcusable and grounds for treachery on the highest level. if your a sampson loyalist though you probably would be enamored with him.

After Sampson was let go, White was still on the court playing hard (most of the time, he seemed like the ONLY one playing hard), so I'm not sure what you're problem with him is. If I ever ran into White, I'd gladly buy him a beer.

DJ White is one of the most loyal Hoosiers in history. Not to any particular coach or player, but to the school. DJ lived and died Hoosier basketball; he is quite a rare find. appreciate that.

Fallen perhaps you mean the Davis apologists since Mike Davis was the one that brought the McDonalds All-American here in the first place.

You have to love what DJ did in his senior season, and he was by far my most favorite player (above Eric Gordon) of his time. I just can't give a whole lot of sympathy to him losing his coach when he's still making 7 figures.

When the economy's gone to shit like it has, it's safe to say you're well off making 7 figures.

he's loyal allright. Mutinies included. blah. the guy gutted it out just to get into the NBA. he wasnt loyal to the school...he would have left with Mike Davis if it wouldnt have cost him yet another year of sitting out, guaranteed.

Know your history Dan shit down Micheal Jordan played within the system and his time as a player never the best on the tea but gave it everything he had and was what IU basketball use to be about. He was about IU and winning played unselfish ball and put the school and team first. DJ playe dwith heart but it appeared he put Sampson above IU basketball that is what Fallen is talking about. I never liked RMK but players never where bigger than the program

I dont want to take away anything from Dan, but he is not a legend. Shuting down MJ one time and playing with everything he had in the system does not make him a legend. I guess being a purdue fan your criteria for a legend is a little different that mine.

Wow...a Boiler with some exceptional IU lore knowledge! I am impressed!

Im pretty sure theres a general consensus that Dakich is something of a legend. Shutting down MJ the way he did was big, big, big. And he did embody what IU basketball is about...playing your ass off no matter what your win/loss is, how many minutes you get, stats, or whatever. Erek Surh was a lot like that, for you young guys that werent around for the glory days.

DJ impressed me more than any IU player has since Calbert Cheaney. His boycott was simply a bluff. He knew that the players threatened to boycott if Davis didn't get promoted in 2000, and he was certain that it would work again about firing Sanctions. It didn't work.

After that, he played his heart out, while everyone else quit.
