Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

DC,

That is why you oversign.
And how could you have foreseen Martin leaving? And how do you justify signing 5 freshmen in one class? Thats a very unbalanced recruiting cycle, and it absolutely forces someone to leave, whether they want to or not.

I hope we never do it, regardless of if we miss out on a single player or not. I'd rather the program have principles and integrity, and not just be in the business of adding as many players as possible, and if one gets left out in the cold, tough luck. Its an absolute horrible message IMO.
agreed. i hate essentially sending the message that someone is going to have to leave -- however, IU had some extenuating circumstances this year. matt howard never seriously considered purdue, so i don't think you'd have to worry about that; teague on the other hand is a different story.
I'm not sure where you got your Howard info, but Purdue was very much involved and Howard was also very much interested in Purdue. Teague was also, but we had other priorities/no room at guard, and never extended an offer.

IU was definitely in an odd situation. If there ever was a school that should oversign, IU was one. I still don't like it, but it definitely makes sense.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

i'm matt howard's cousin, so i have a little first hand knowledge. he went there a few times to visit, the same as he did with IU, but he decided fairly early on that he wanted to attend a smaller school where his parents could go to every game (hence butler). IU is pretty much our family school with few exceptions, so needless to say him picking purdue would have been fairly unpopular with my family. ;) Butler is definitely a great fit for him, and i'm glad he's there because he's loving it.

Well, I suppose you would know more than most. I just went by some of the comments he made back in the recruiting process about how much he liked Painter and Purdue. Glad he is enjoying himself at Butler, he sure is thriving there. I wouldn't be upset with more kids from Indiana staying home and playing there.

yeah, i liked painter a lot, he wasn't huge on the academic aspects of purdue only because of his intended major. really, he's a home-boy and he wanted his parents to come to EVERY game (home or away). IU and Purdue travel too much nationally, so Butler was a good pick for him.

What was his major? I can't imagine Purdue not having it or being very good in it, unless it was music.

well, it was education (and butler has one of the best schools of education in the nation), not really a knock on purdue's program, it's just butler's is really good. i'm pretty sure he changed his major though.

DC is the only poster who could take a prediction thread and turn it into a Purdue recruiting thread???
Anyway, back to the ORIGINAL thread, I say Wake Forest wins by 27. It will be ugly unless we have improved dramatically since Maui, haha.
