  • Dackich on Hillman's remarks.
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

You have to listen to the audio that I found on Inside The Hall. It is pretty interesting that Dackich is standing up for these ex-players that he kicked off over an ex-IU guy. Dackich to me is a stand up guy and I think he should be still part of our program. Sorry, that is how I feel. Maybe he would make a good AD somewhere, perhaps IU in the future.

I definitely agree he is a stand up guy, and I want all of our former players (sans Sampson's) to be apart of our program. If it wasn't for Dakich and his stiffling (sp) defense, Jordan would probably have two championship rings.

Come and join in song together, shout with might and main. Our beloved Alma Mater, sound her praise again. Gloriana Frangipana, E'er to her be true. She's the pride of Indiana, Hail to Old IU!

If I ever meet Dakich I owe him the biggest apology. I thought he was full of himself when he was at the helm but as time past I quickly realized he's what other IU players should strive to be like. He's pretty much a class act! Sorry Dan I was a PLAYA HATER!

While Dakich was trying to be kind to Sampson's thugs, Hillman was justified in the aspect that those kids weren't worthy of playing for IU. they simply should have never been there in the first place.

Turdue perhaps but not IU.

Isn't that what Dakich is saying in the entire interview, but to call them thugs or bad guys, like Hillman did, was just poor taste or a poor choice of quoted words.

Dakich knows more about the situation than anyone else, including Hillman. I think dedicated is right, Dakich has taken offense to somebody publicly bashing kids that I'm sure Hillman knew nothing about.

The way Dakich was treated at the end of last season was an absolute disgrace IMO. Luckily, Dakich is a stand-up guy and knows IU, so he probably hasn't taken it too poorly and will probably continue to be an asset to Indiana University for years to come. He'd be great as Director of Basketball Operations.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Same here. I've definitely grown to respect Dakich, and I'd be all for him having some type of administrative role at IU.

You sure are right, Dcamden. I was absolutely appalled at the way Dakich was treated and feel absolutely terrible for him even to this day. DJ White leading the mutiny against him, students cheering the players on for doing so and calling for Dakichs' head, not being retained by the school for some sort of position; I was disappointed in Crean for not inviting him to stay on staff.

Danny did nothing wrong and tried to do everything by the book (something that has not been tolerable at Indiana as of late) and gave it his best shot. But with fans and players rallying against him, he was fucked from the get-go. Sampson fever was still in high gear. I wish the guy the best, he certainly deserves it after being treated like a goat at a school where he should be considered a hero.

And the guy still supports the program. You are right Fallen, he got treated like shit and thrown in the garbage. He should have been the only one retained for a position. Too bad Greenspan didn't step down before Dakich got let go, maybe he would have been our new AD. I think he wouldn't do that much worse than the new guy in that position now and the new one coming aboard in January. I think an AD job is what should suit Dakich the best. I wish him nothing but success.
