Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

SLV is a nice bright spot for me.

Fortunately I cut my Freeport position by 50% at a slight profit before today's big drop. However, I'm still down due to the half I'm holding. Can't decide whether to hold the rest... Damn, it's a difficult market right now. I also like your TBT play, but it does assume that the Fed can get us out of this mess with spending. Given the current fear gripping the world markets, maybe treasuries will continue to perform well for much longer than you might think.

I blew a gasket this morning when I saw the FCX headline. I thought they'd cut the dividend but no entirely.

its now a bet on the economy recovering. It could trade down a few more bucks and I will probably buy more.

Whats interesting are the options in the stock: ie Jan 2010 60 are trading at a buck. tells you the upside and potential upside volatility in the name.

I'm grudgingly holding. SLW held an investor conference and it was bullish - huge volume of March 5 options trading.

This will print 6-8 in the first half of 09.

I had watched FCX fall from 100+ and have wanted to hold it. I assumed that buying at the 22 level with a 10% divvy was pretty safe, and expected them to at least pay out 5%--better than money markets. Shit. If it bounces to 20+ short term, I will likely take my 5% loss (10% of half my original wager) and look for another entry in the 15-17 range.

That's nice to see. I'll probably hold and consider this one as part of my offshore diversification allocation. I've also been averaging in to some currency funds, JYN, FXY, and FXF. Unless we have the nuclear meltdown of Depression 2.0, it seems likely the US$ is going to start taking more of a hit, and your TBT play will start to look good.

consider FAX, GIM, GHI all closed ended intl bond funds selling at huge discounts and paying fat monthly dividends.

The discounts will eventually narrow - especially when the dollar weakens and the Fed lowers rates again

Thanks, the AS$ has been pummeled recently, and I expect it to strengthen relative to the US$ which bodes well for FAX.

LMAO - referencing overrated BT teams - including the same team twice.

MSU was now a top 10 team? link please.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=280432509

It says:

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Purdue students didn't storm the court after the Boilermakers beat Michigan State.

That's because they're no longer surprised when the Boilermakers win big games.

Robbie Hummel scored a career-high 24 points as Purdue (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) posted a 60-54 victory over Michigan State (No. 9 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP) on Tuesday night
.

Wow, owning UB just gets easier every year!

But I agree that IU and Michigan State were overrated the entire year, despite being exposed early and often. Wisconsin, on the other hand, went to the Sweet Sixteen and also swept the "Final Four" Hoosiers.

Wish that would have happened last summer when I went there.

I was more pointing out what that statement looks like if the $ was an S.

We should probably be ranked around 15-20. We haven't proven that we should be ranked any higher at this point. I think we definitely deserve to be ranked though.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel
