Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

For the illiterate fucks that post on this board (for whatever reason):

I said on December 14, 2007 that Martin so far was our best player. At that time, he was leading the team with 12.4 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, and 29.3 minutes per game. At season's end, his averages were 8.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 21.9 mpg. You be the judge as to whether or not his play dropped significantly. I would feel sorry for any Gomer wannabe fan who says it didn't.

I know it's very hard for some people to imagine, but things change between December 14 and March 22. Look at IU. They went from getting blown out by Xavier to getting blown out by Arkansas. Okay, bad example.
yet they blew out turdue's team of the century.

didn't Martin get a bad case of Mono in the second semester that really weakened him?
Nope. He had a case of "I shoot too much even though I couldn't hit water if I fell out of a boat." and "I couldn't stay in front of my man if we were stuck in a phone booth".

For the few positives that he had, he had just as many weaknesses.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I'll take JJ's 11 and 4 on 54% shooting and 2 blocks a game over Martin's 8 and 4 on 37% shooting and horrid defense any day of the week.

Martin had potential and is still a good player, but he wasn't going to make or break this team. The other 3 freshmen have proved that they are way more valuable than he was, which isn't a bad thing because Moore, Johnson, and Hummel are all very good players. Martin will have a good 3 years at ND.

And he has 11 and 4 this year. Johnson will be a much better college player than Martin, and is way more valuable than Martin. He'll be a three year starter, Martin would have started maybe his senior season.

Regardless of stats, Johnson was a much more important player to this team and program. This year's stats only verify that. With the way we overextend on the perimeter, we need a player in the middle capable of protecting the rim.

I thought Martin was going to be very important to this team at the beginning of last year because of his offense and the fact that I thought Hummel was going to struggle on that end and I didn't know Grant would turn into the league's best 3 point shooter. When Martin became inefficient on the offensive end and the two above became legit offensive weapons, he became less valuable.
