Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I'd say that on December 15, 2008, this team is leaps and bounds better than they were on December 15, 2007.

Its hard being patient, but I still think we have a pretty good team.

We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I think we played well early in the season and even though we lost in the NIT i thought we played well.

Every team goes through a during the season and i think thats all thats goin on right now. The way i look at it better now than March.

Not to start anything, but it only makes sense that a team mostly composed of Sophomores would be much better than a team mainly composed of Freshman 9 games into the season. And agreed, you guys will be a real good team some time in the future.

to me the real question is are you a better team now than you were in march of 2008? i don't think purdue is any better right now than they were last march, but as cam said, it seems to be a trend of painter teams to start slow and finish strong.

We are not as good as we were nine months ago. Partly because last year's MVP (Grant) is still trying to catch up, after missing the entire off-season because of knee surgery. We are also trying to work Lewis Jackson into the mix. He is the true point guard we need.

I agree with what NLA and dcam said. We only have one bad loss (Duke) and it was a game we were supposed to lose anyway. We outplayed a current top five team on a neutral court. There is no reason for panic just because of a bad game against Duke and a sloppy win over ISU.

I agree with both of the IU fans. To tell you the truth I am getting a little nervous about this team. They seem to be to satisfied right now and not nearly as hungry as they were last year. I felt even when they werent playin that well early last year, they still had a fire lit under them. I hope I am wrong and this team follows the Painter trend though.

Well the loss last year to Wofford was probably the best thing that could of happened. After that they pretty much lit the world on fire and because of it got a lot of recognition and the rankings this year proved that. Now, besides a couple games, they really haven't played anyone (which it's not like anyone has a killer schedule this time of year). Anyhoos, it's hard to get up for a game against Indiana State and the others, and I'd say that's part of the reason that they have "struggled a bit". However, I think once the Big Ten season starts up, their intensity will do the same, and they will be fine. And I know, it would be nice to beat every cupcake by 50, but it just doesn't happen that way.

I didn't expect us to come out and be as good as we were last February and March. When you are a team that relies quite a bit on being a jump shooting team, it takes awhile to get into a groove. I don't think its very easy to be in mid-season form in December, especially when this team is still going through practices that aren't meant to make you fresh for your games.

Hell, even after the Wofford loss last year, we followed that up by laying an egg and losing to a bad Iowa State team and barely escaping against Missouri St.

We obviously have our flaws. We aren't going to out muscle or out rebound many teams. But right now, our strengths from last year, shooting and defense, haven't really been strengths yet. I think this team is still capable of being a good shooting team and a good defensive team.

Some of the hype and expectations that some of the Purdue fans had coming into this year were unrealistic to start with. So it only makes sense there are some disappointed fans. This is a good team that is not playing thier best basketball yet. They are going to get better.

I think will know alot more about are team after this weekends game against Davidson. If play the way we have been playing then I think there is some reason to be concerned.

The Duke game we played bad and just got beat by a better team.
I hope and think the other games we were just playing down to our oppenent.

With the way we've been playing i think this weekends game is the biggest of the season so far. If we lose then we dont have a good win outside of conference.
