Courtesy of Every Day Should Be Saturday aka EDSBS.com. Note: For those who undoubtedly will not get it (no names mentioned) this is satire. For full effect picture this being said by Mel Kiper. Curtis Painter, Purdue. Tough senior year, got caught in a bad situation. Benched for a freshman who started the season as a running back. I don’t know what Purdue was thinking with this kind of talent in the pocket. Painter’s got a terrific arm and outstanding mechanics, but what really separates him is his ability to take a snap from center and never leave the tackle box under any circumstances. He knows how to take a sack like no man I’ve ever seen; curls up like stunned armadillo and just lays there. Excellent open field slider. Edited by hoosierinhogville, Dec 17 2008, 01:52 PM.

Actually I disagree UnbiasedOne. He has one of the greatest arms of our generation and if he works on his pocket presence a little bit I could see him being a top 3 pick and future HOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boiler Up! Hail Purdue! Peter Eater Family Furnaces, LLC |

Painter is an excellent QB when it comes to running a pro-style offense. He sucked this year because: A) He got hurt against Oregon and played through it B) The receivers were juco transfers mostly who were not familiar w/ route running until later in the season C) The O-line sucked. period. He is a big tough guy, w/ an awesome arm. He sent the bench and squat record for QB and I think even the LB's-was a story a few years ago. Not to mention he's one of only 5 Big10 QB's w/ over 10000 passing yards. I think he would be a good draft choice- |

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get drafted. His ability to look off receivers is a weakness, but like you said, his receiving corp and line didn't do him many favors this year. |

He's the type of guy you draft in the 5-7 rounds, make him your #3 QB, coach him up, and hope that in a couple of years he can be a solid backup. He'd be a perfect pick in those rounds for a team like the Colts, Saints, Packers, Steelers, etc. who have established QBs where he can go learn and be in a good system. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

I'm not saying he's a first round draft pick by any means. Heck, he might not even get drafted at all. What I am saying is that I think he has the right stuff to work in a pro style offense, and that someone might pick him up outside the draft and make him a 3rd string QB on the practice squad or something. In a few years, who knows. |

It almost has to be. He uses the same talking points (the whole team being gay, the Pippen crap, etc) and just sets up everything for UB. Oh well, they are both idiots. Both are probably IU fans who are making the rest of you look stupid. |

I say 6 or 7th round. His stock definitely dropped this year, but despite that i can see a few teams still interested in giving him a shot. |

I think he'll do well enough in the combine to get picked up with a later draft pick. He's got enough of the qualities of pro QBs to make teams interested. |
