Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

"there is no official language of the united states."-Btown8

really? there USED to be.
there is no official language -- i don't know if you're kidding or not; but there seriously isn't an official language of the USA.
yeah, i know that. (disputed as it is). im just an illegalaphobe. my forefathers spent 200 years raping and pillaging this country, im not defering shit to the spanish speaking pussies of the world.
FTW!!! Kind of.

We need to establish English as the official language, and if you can't speak it, then get the fuck out.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Trouble how do we switch to the fairtax???? I think implemetation is the biggest problem????

It also take things like a boat away from the little guy. $40,000 boat now becomes a 48,000 boat and you can't find a bank to finance the 8,000 that is taxed. That puts boat makers out of business. Of course the current economy is doing that also.
ok, thats the difference between and inclusive tax and an exclusive tax. an exclusive tax would add 23% more cost onto any exsisting product. the fair tax is INCLUSIVE. what that means in a nutshell is roughly 20% of the cost of anything you buy is tax passed on to the consumer. your only looking at an ADDITIONAL 3% cost on any item's current price. that $40,000 boat will only cost $41,200. all the "exclusive taxes" passed on to us now anyway, would be incorporated into the fairtax.
the only thing that i havent seen addressed is the vice tax. would the fairtax pre-emt the alcohol, cigarrette, and/or gas taxes currently in use. or would it stack? other than that, im all in favor.
What about state sales tax, property tax, and state income taxes????????????
its a good question, like my vice tax question. would states still be able to control some revenue? im not sure, im only 2/3 through the book. ive been out of work and drinking at your expense lately, so i dont read as much as i did.
at the federal level im all in favor of it. as for states, im hoping they address it in the last 1/3 of the book. cattman? aaronk? any help here?
trouble. I will address this tonight....board meetings all day today, but thanks for explaining the inclusive vs. exclusive tax....it shows that you are studying instead just reading the info, which is what has to be done to make it better, instead of just attacking the exact same angle over & over again like BG01 does, even though I have explained it several times.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

AaronK,

Not attacking just trying to figure it out. The Repubs down here are crazy for it. o one can tell me how we implement it. I guess Jan 1 2014 when a Repub has been in office for a year with a reasonable congress

BG01, you REALLY need to read the book...it will all become crysal clear. You simply impliment it by deciding that you want to do it, setting the year, and as of Jan. 1 of that year, BOOM...no more income tax. The IRS stays around to collect old debts and perform fairtax audits on businesses, but over time it becomes substantially reduced in size, scope, and power.

Well Senator McCain always said we needed an easier system. I bet accountants are against it but all. Not that the current system does but how would it keep from overspending. I hope as the revenue came in the tax rate could be lowered. You give them more money they just find more things to spend it on

Overall I think it is a good system

majority of accountants are in favor of it. It addresses the tax code, not spending practices, although it does add a level of transparency which curbs spending some by nature.

I like the fact that foreigners traveling into the U.S. as well as illegals already here, that do not pay taxes, will inherently pay them whenever they make purchases. No more worrying about whether or not Jose' or whoever is paying income taxes. They will now be if the FairTax was implemented.

not to mention, undergrounders such as drug dealers, prostitutes, thieves, and other such folks who make their living in illegal activity will also now be forced to pay taxes.

I actually have much less of a problem with unemployment than I do with all other entitlements. I with it was voluntarily paid into & provided by the employer as a benefit to the employee, and I wish the department of workforce development paid more attention to fraudulent claims instead of putting all of the burden on the employer, but even at it's current state it is not nearly as bad as most other entitlement programs IMO.
