Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

imagine Crean having Devin Ebanks and Holloway. considering how good a PG Holloway is (ask Xavier), this team would be 5-7 games better than they are right now.
Get out the time machine!!!

Imagine if Crean had Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, and Wilt Chamberlain!!!! GOOD LORD!!!
huge difference: Ebanks and Holloway were SIGNED recruits to IU.

:owned:
They were signed to SAMPSON not CREAN or IU. If they were signed to IU, they'd had stayed.
So on these recruiting websites, you are saying it says signed LOI to the coach instead of the school? I'll have to go check that out again.

No, but when they have a clause in their LOI that says "If Kelvin Sampson is fired or leaves, I can get out of my LOI" like those two had, then yes, they were committed to Sampson and not IU.

If they were committed to IU, then why did they leave? Loads of playing time and a good coach.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Guess they didn't buy into the "It's Indiana!" hype.

Obviously, he was signed to IU. He didn't have any Sampson stipulation in his LOI, and stayed committed to IU.

Different players go to schools for different reasons.

Coaching change happens, Roth and Pritchard stay, Ebanks and Holloway bolt. Its pretty obvious why those two chose IU. Same with Williams and Crean. He wasn't committed to Marquette, he was committed to Crean.

There was also talk of potential postseason bans during that period of time which would definitely influence a kid like Ebanks. I'm sure he probably thought he was a one and done at that time. I haven't read anything about Ebanks or Holloway having a specific clause in their LOI stating they would be given immediate release(if they wanted it) in the event Sampson was fired.

"I'm getting out of my letter really soon," Holloway told Rivals.com. "It could happen today or it might be later in the week. I don't know, but I've begun the process. There is an agreement with Indiana that I can get out of the letter if Indiana gets banned from post season play or Coach Sampson leaves. I want to look at some other schools, but I'm also keeping Indiana as an option."

Subscription required to read the above article. Not the one below.

And here:

According to Rivals.com, there is a clause in the National Letter of Intent signed by Devin Ebanks and Terrell Holloway that allows them to back out of their commitment if Sampson was fired or if the school was put on a postseason ban.

Holy shit, this may be the greatest post ever.

This is like the Nag/UB all in one post. The Malik Story thing is the best.
LOL, that is exactly what I was thinking. It was like a Nage breakdown with UB humor wrapped up all in one.

What IU needs to work on the most is the completely uncalled for TO's. Examples from NW game last night: Jones simply dribbling the ball up the court and what do you know......off his knee right to the defender!!!! :banghead: Also, Dan Moore in a double team and goes to pass......no.....can't catch the ball in his hands and instead, gives the ball to the defender. How do you coach that?

I think that there will be another player added to the 09' class so that will mean the departure of 2 of these kids. I feel like two of the Story, Roth, Jones three will be gone. Honestly with the talent coming in, I would like to see Dumes and Jones go, but I probably won't get that lucky.

Jobe looks 35 years old and I've never seen anyone jump out for a block or up for a rebound and when they get up in the air keep their hands around their waist. He's the worst player to every wear that uniform. Roberts would take him to the rack. Nonetheless he does help the GPA.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed
