we got hosed. i hate complaining about officiating, but damn.
12 point differential?
those calls killed momentum, and were downright deplorable at times. like i said, i hate to criticize officials, but that was downright disgusting.
The only blatantly bad call was the hold on Roth after his 3 got blocked. That was not a foul. Refs didn't stand out to me. I noticed that IU can't guard Turner or Buford and that Matt Roth can flat out shoot. Edit: and the goaltend.
i think the refs got pissed after they said there were "whistles in the crowd" and we responded by whistling incessantly. the fake reggie miller flops by diebler were also getting pretty damn bad. also, the "block" and 1 near the end of the game was the wrong call -- the black referee even came to the white ref (right in front of me) and said "don't ever call that again".
Which one? The one on Buford? That was a block. Replay showed it clearly. The IU defended stopped to close to the bucket, Buford stopped short, and then the IU defender started back and slid under him. The fouls on 3s were all fouls. Just bad plays by IU. agree to disagree?

agree to disagree? If you watched the replay Buford jumped and when he was in the air I think it was Lewis took another step closer to him. I thought it was a charge at first to until i saw the replay.

once we get a legit big man in to draw the defenders down low he's going to be a beast. br
I'm not sure IU will have a legit big man during Roth's tenure at IU. He will hit quite a few 3s though.
I just think they need one more big man to go with Pritchard and I think they will probably have it with Minru, Cappo, and Elston. Also, don't forget that Rivers is eligible next year and his experience will make people like Roth better. We will be a much, much better team next year and the last 5 games that we just played and lost, we will win next year. I think you DC are starting to get a little nervous next year because IU will be a threat and will win more games than they lose. Hell, if Crean can get these bunch of misfits to be competitive, just think what he will do next year with a full team of decent players. I am not saying we will be NCAA bound, but I think we will be at least .500 and make the NIT. Also, we will be very, very hard to beat at home. Doesn't Purdue start playing us twice next year? I see a split. Start shaking now DC. :goiu: You got me. :sarcasm:
Fact is, IU should be over .500 next season. You will return nearly your entire production from this year, and add a good recruiting class.
Muniru is a major project, Elston plays as a 3, and Capo is similar to Pritchard (although I doubt he'll be as productive). If Pritchard isn't considered a legit big, then there isn't one coming in next season.
I have no reason to be nervous. I've said all along that IU will be back. Good luck catching Purdue ;)

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I'm out of the country so couldn't watch but listen on yahoo sports. Roth must have been unconscious today. Laz and Don sounded pretty upset with the officiating down the stretch and it sounded as if Crean was also pretty upset. I do believe they are trying to get better. This was a game for about 33 minutes.
To put it in a nutshell, MD, the formula of not enough talent, and too much clock doesn't bid us well. I don't question that these guys play hard, but without size, talent, and experience on any level of any kind, we're just not going to be able to sustain 40 minutes of Big 10 play to beat anyone. I realized that after seeing the first two Big 10 games. That said, there's no one turning their backs on them or the program in general. Knowing the program is clean and realizing this is a 'throw away season', I'm having a blast watching them play, and from the looks of Assembly Hall, the support is there in full strength. Ironically, I don't doubt that this year will go down in IU history, one that the entire fanbase will, and should be proud of. Sticking together through times like these sends a message loud and clear and lends strength in itself. For the first time in a decade, there's light at the end of this tunnel. Yeah Jaz, I tend to agree with you. I do think they are improving and I thought after the last few losses, they might just throw in the towel. They have not done that and I do think they will continue to play hard. I am not sure where it will come, but I believe they will close out a game against someone and pull off an upset although that may just be wishful thinking.

agree to disagree? lol.
Just saying, the replay showed different. Thats the one positive of watching it at home, you can calm down about the refs through replays. Live, it looked like a bad call. Replay showed different IMO.
IU is still going to get someone at home. Please make it MSU.

one point in today's game, BJ Mullens was inbounding right in front of me and i yelled "good luck in the NBDL BJ" and he turned around. score.

Was the fans actually chanting "overrated" at the end of the game? I didn't think OSU was even ranked not to mention that they were going to lose by double digits...I may have heard that wrong but that just makes them look dumb IMO...

He more looks like like the fat kid nobody wanted to pick during recess. Lol. You have a coach that is a better cheerleader than coach. I'm waiting for him, Buckley, and the AAU coach to do cartwheels across the court at halftime.
And you don't know who will be legit out of Purdue's recruiting class. Predict away, results speak for themselves. You're hoping IU becomes legit, Purdue is legit. I'll take my chances with Purdue and Painter.
Here's to the future, it should be fun.

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Was the fans actually chanting "overrated" at the end of the game? I didn't think OSU was even ranked not to mention that they were going to lose by double digits...I may have heard that wrong but that just makes them look dumb IMO...
no one was chanting overrated. i dont know which specific chant you were referring too? perhaps "MATT ROTH" or "THROW A CHAIR"... or maybe it was "CAN'T READ, CAN'T WRITE" I dont get the CANT READ CANT WRITE
