Do you think they are being asked to do similar things in the offense? Looks to me that Dumes is being asked to penetrate and create for others. That leads to more TOs. Roth seems like he is pretty much just asked to hunt for his shot. If he doesn't have it, he gets rid of it to a safe place. A penetrator and creator will always have more TOs than a spot up shooter. |

I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. Didn't I say that DC? But he does pass inside quite a bit, which isn't always the safest route, but he makes smart decisions. Dumbass, if being asked to penetrate, is in way over his head. His ballhandling sucks and he can't pass worth a shit. That is TC's fault, but is limited because he has no one else. Dumbass, IMO, is a catch and shoot player too. |

He's the most athletic kid on the team. I'm not sure why all the hate, he's being asked to do quite a bit with very little around him to help. If he had any talent or experience around him, I'm guessing those TOs would go down. Him and Pritchard are the only two players that should be playing significant minutes in the B10 right now. |

I don't see Dumes doing much creating for others. He has 1.4 assists per game. I see him slashing and getting the ball stolen. I see him forcing up and missing a layup on a fast break up 5 with 30 seconds on the shot clock and under 2 minutes left in the game against Michigan. Let's be honest, the kid is looking to create for himself. He may be the best option we have now to create offense, but he's not very good at it. He makes dumb decisions and they only get dumber when we have a chance to win. |

When you have no other viable options to go to, its hard to create. IU is fairly easy to stop. If Roth is in, keep a guy glued to him. Then collapse on everything else. He has 1.4 assists partially because the talent around him isn't very good. |

I think he has 1.4 assists more because he isn't a good ballhandler, passer, creator, or decision maker. They tried to keep Diebler close to Roth at all times in the zone, and he hit a few with a hand in his face from pretty deep. Sure that's all he can do right now, but that's more than I can say about other guys on our squad. |

I'm pretty sure his assist totals are nonexistant because he has a hero mentality and whenever he decides to drive into the lane he puts his head down and either charges, turns it over, or gets his shot blocked. IU does not currently have a player who can effectively penetrate the lane and either make a good pass/decision or finish consistently. There is no reason for the opposing team to sag off the perimeter shooters, if they do it's because they are dumb or lazy. |

I've only watched about 3 IU games this year b/c it's so painful, but from what I can tell it's great to have a Roth on your team .... just can't have more than 1 guy like him in the game at a time. |
