Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Yeah I distinctly recall being told last year when IU was ranked about 7th that rankings don't mean anything in January and February.

I've heard this talk before. Banner #6 has been raised with every other top 10 recruiting class that IU has brought in over the past 15 years. Purdue bounced back in year 2 under Painter. Good luck.
Bounced back to what???? Second round exits from the tournament???
Being nationally ranked. Then preseason top 10. And now ranked in the top 15.

Considering where we came from, thats bouncing back and some.

What would you consider "bouncing back"?
Final Fours and Championships. I assume that's the goal for most teams in college basketball. But I guess at Purdue, being ranked will do.
Thats the goal, but do you consider it logical to expect that coming from 7 and 9 win seasons? Its a process, doesn't happen overnight. And do you not see that as a realistic possibility for Purdue in the next few seasons? I'm sure I know the answer, but its there.

I guess at Purdue we are logical and actually have realistic expectations. If thats what you are going to put on Crean,
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

And I distinctly remember thinking that team was going to fall apart.

I think that line might sum up Purdue Basketball. You have to expect to win before you can ever win championships.

You do know that fan expectations have absolutely nothing to do with winning a championship? You don't control your team, you don't make them win.

The team expects to win, but I'm not going to be pissed off if my team plays hard and goes 25-7 with a young team and wins a tournament game. Thats a positive step.

Cam Purdue is good, Painter is good, and your future is looking good, but I'm going to pull the card you guys used against IU fans last year: until you actually do something in the tournament, its all talk. You guys called out IU fans for being stoked about our team last year. Well unless Purdue makes it to at least the second weekend, this team is simply a good team, but nothing special. Also I believe by Crean's third season IU will be to where Purdue's at now, and I'd take that.
Best post out of all the crap posts I have read on here tonight Mongo. Everyone on here knew that IU would be bad this year. We accept it, but do we have to take this crap from all the Purdue fans? If they actually do something in the tourney this year, I will be the first to congratulate them, but until then, just shut up about it. And let us look forward to next year and talk about the new recruits, what else do we have right now!!

I've yet to see a Final Four lock and National Title type prediction out of anyone regarding Purdue, and thats the stuff I doubted about people predicting last year. I thought IU's team last year was a second weekend team in December and parts of January, but also thought disaster was looming. It also didn't help that you were being led by a known cheater.

If Purdue doesn't make the second weekend, you would be right, they'd just be a good team.

I'm really not sure where IU is going to be in Crean's third season. It all depends on how next year's recruiting class turns out. Does it come out like Purdue's class last year, or does it come out like OSU's, Florida's, or Syracuse's class last year? Its a complete unknown, and its hard for me to predict where IU is with that many unknowns.
