Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I am an independent contractor, and thus, self-employed.

I was with Blue Cross, which is now Anthem. My rates have gone up twice within the past six months, and, about 2 times per month I receive in the mail "Important information about your policy"... which always means a reduction in my coverage.

I am paying almost $500 per month for fucking health insurance, with a $2,500 deductible. So, the colonoscopy that I should have, due to family history, would not be covered and would cost me $2,000 out of pocket.

It makes no sense to me. Sure... let me get cancer and then they will pay out the ass, instead of chipping in a bit for some preventative care.

Our health care system is fucked up. The insurance companies are more like a bank than anything else.

is the deductible at 2,500 for you individually or for you and your family. If I remember correctly you have a wife

"had" would be the right word. 13 years with a headcase.

I am currently single.

to answer your question, the Health Insurance is for me.

NLA<

I see your point $500 A MONTH IS $6,000 A YEAR PLUS $2,500 DEDUCTIBLE IS A TOTAL OF $8,500 A YEAR BEFORE THEY PAY A DIME. i DOUBT YOU HAVE $6,000 A YEAR IN HEALTH BILLS SO kinda a loss.

I think we need so Health Care Reform but I know I am against universal federal healthcare. My deductible os $1,000 a year and I pay $300.00 a month.

I assume that your insurance is a group plan, not individual.

Hey NLA, I feel for ya man.....I just dropped $1,100 on an MRI for my knee (basketball injury), and if I have to have surgury, I will blow right past my 2000 deduct, 70/30, $5k maximum.

I am curious though, why do most people, yourself seemingly included, always choose to 1st blame the insurance industry instead of the healthcare industry? ie I'm not mad at my insurance company because the radiolgist is charging me $1,100 for a 20 minute service.....I blame the doc who has 3 homes, and only works 4-6 months/year. He/she is the one who is gouging the consumer or insurance company causing rates to increase and coverage to decrease.

In order to fix the problem NLA, we must first understand it's cause.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

given the experience that you detailed above, I just can't figure out why you feel that national healthcare would fix this problem. The costs would still be there, but would most likely be SUBSTANTIALLY higher to due to a system that will be very easy to defraud (see medicare/medicaid fraud), on top of the fact that the system will become even more flooded with "customers" seeking "free" healthcare. Simply supply & demand laws conclude that costs will increase and/or service quality will decrease.

If we are throwing out numbers, My wife, 17 month old and myself are putting out 1150.00 per month. It does hurt NLA. I do feel that pain with you.

I didn't say national healthcare would "fix" the problem.

I was just bitching about paying higher and higher premiums for less and less coverage.

So, I really have no choice but to keep throwing my money at the insurance company month after month, year after year... in case (god forbid, knock wood) I would need major medical care.

NLA, you have told me several times in the past that you are a supporter of national healthcare. If you dont think it will work, why do you support it? Is it for selfish reasons, meaning you want me and others to pay for your healthcare? You don't seem like that type of person to me. How would you propose fixing the system?

that's bullshit again, aaron. :banghead:

I think the Healthcare System needs to be reformed.

If I had the solution, I would probably be in the White House.
