  • Will You Root For Purdue In The NCAA's?
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I voted "Maybe, Depends On Who They Play"

The only way I'd vote against Purdue, out of the Big 10 teams, is if they played Penn. State, providing Penn. State in fact gets in. Nothing in particular against Purdue, I'd just rather see the underdogs win in that situation. Other than that, I'd probably root for them playing anyone outside of the Big 10.

As it stands now, these are the Big 10 teams the are either in, or at least who I am speculating to be in as of this moment:

Michigan State (10-3, 20-5)
Purdue (9-4, 20-6)
Illinois (9-5, 21-6)
Penn State (8-6, 19-8)
Wisconsin (8-6, 17-9)

If Purdue played Michigan State, I would root for Purdue
If Purdue played Wisconsin, I would root for Purdue
If Purdue played Illinois, I would root for Purdue
If Purdue played Penn State, I would root for Penn State

Again, this is merely speculation on who I think is in at the moment, and with Minnesota and Ohio State maybe falling on the other side of the bubble, it's really hard to tell what is going to happen in the next couple of weeks.

*NOTE* - I ask that IU fans vote ONLY, and please leave a response of how you voted and why, that way we'll know where the voting actually stands. I can't imagine Purdue fans sneaking in and voting.. :banghead:

If you see things turning out different, as far as who's in or who's out, feel free to respond to that too.

It's too much fun watching Purdue lose to root for them in any situation. I have no problem with Izzo, so I would root for MSU over just about any other team......even if I don't think they deserve to be a top 12 team. Illinois is in the same boat as Purdue for me. I have no animosity for Penn State, so I wouldn't mind seeing them win a few games......or Wisconsin.

I said yes just because they represent the big ten and I'm loyal to the conference. On the other hand if they make a deep run I won't be able to handle the douchatude (made that word up) that could occur on this board. I'll stick with yes.

I said yes because they represent the B10. I have always rooted for B10 teams in the big dance. But I will tell you what, if these obnoxious Purdue fans don't quit rubbing it in this year, I will definitely turn and start rooting for the other team. My nephew, who is a Purdue fan by the way, and I go and watch the tournament and drink beers together and I cheer right along with him, but it is starting to get very hard because these Purdue fans don't know when to stop. This season and the last 6 or 7 years have been really hard to endure, and they keep kicking us while we are down.

For most fans, I think it depends on who they interact with. Living out of state, I take pride in IU having a good team, and representing the BT well. Also, most of my family are IU fans, and I enjoy talking bball with them, and enjoying quality wins.

If I had to work with IU fans who were blow hards and constantly talked shit about Purdue, I would tend to enjoy seeing IU lose more games.

One great thing about a message board is you can turn it off and on when you want.

Why would I root for Purdue in the NCAA tourney?

It just seems to me that rooting for a team that losing all season long only to then root out another one for the tourney that seems headed for disappointed is something only a masochist (or a Purdue and Cub fan) would do.

Cue Bob. :)

I would root for them in the first rounds depending on who they are playing. I wouldn't root for them against a lovable underdog, like say butler, and never past the sweet sixteen. Some things such as final four appearances are just too fun to hold over their heads.
