| Welcome to Our Hoosier Board! Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions. Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful. Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine! I know that none of us post on the ESPN boards so Knight only has one or two people backing him up... There is a debate (if you wanna call 14 posts a debate) about knight. This sooner guy posted the following.. jholt You would have had a point but the problem with your defense of Knight is that other coaches have won and did not abuse their players in the process. I played high school football in Oklahoma so i know a thing or two about strict coaches, however none of my coaches crossed the line. I was sworn at but I was never called racial epithets. My coaches pulled my facemask and hit the side of my helmet but they never grabbed me by the neck with two hands and choked me. It's obvious Bob Knigh has an anger issue so it makes sense that he has probably done far worse behind closed doors. Bob Knight has a classic psychiatric disorder called Narcisistic Personality Disorder. It's an actual clinical term and people like him feel they are above the rules and the rules don't apply to them. This is why Bob continued to disgrace himself and Indiana until he got caught choking a player and was forced to resign. Bob Knight is a brilliant coach and I don't think abusing his kids helped him win championships. Knight won because of his genius and his discipline. However in emphasizing his discipline, he went too far and crossed the line. That's why Knight will never win another championship because today's players are too intelligent and strong to babysit a tyrant like Bob Knight. They know they can go to Duke or North Carolina and be treated with respect and still win a national title. Bob Knight is just Woody Hayes, a genius whose flaws will define his legacy. I can understand how you think of us as bleeding hearts. Likewise, we tend to think of you as people who have never been treated with respect and thus does not know how to treat others with respect. What people like you don't understand is the men like Bob Knight are not strong, they are coward. A real man and a person of strength would not beat up on young men. It's one thing to be strict, it's another thing to lose control of your temper. Unfortunately, strong to you only means abuse. People like you will never understand what it means to be a gentleman, a person who shows strength and class. I'm sorry you have never met anyone like that in your life. I think as one of the followers said that missing discipline in young people's lives is a huge problem that we have here in the country now. This debate kinda pissed me off and made me ALMOST wanna post on the ESPN board! |

It always cracks me up when Neil Reed gets brought up. Knight grabbed him by the neck, he should have choked him. Reed was an idiot on and off the floor. |
