Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Look, I doubt there's any way to tell how many points those guys scored on Rivers. If he played 16 minutes against Rose, then that means Rose played 20 minutes against someone else. Like I said, I've never seen the kid play, but everything I read about him says defensive stopper. Including the Gtown fans themselves. So take it FWIW.

Something just doesn't add up. But only time will tell. If its anything, it'll be another interesting season down in Bloomington, as it usually is.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Here's the postgame article where he guarded Flynn. The first thing mentioned is Rivers's defense and how Flynn has been on fire earlier in the game.

And a postgame article against Villanova where Rivers was on Reynolds in the final seconds and forced a turnover. Just because the guy he guards scored a lot of points in the game doesn't mean they did it all against Rivers.

Look, I'm not saying all of this isn't true, its just odd. Take the Nova game in which he scored 24 points. Rivers played 15 minutes and had 4 fouls, and Reynolds was dominating that game, he was the only Nova player to score double figures.

Time will tell, one would think a lock down defender like Rivers would be able to get more than 18 minutes a game in a league with that many great guards.

One play doesn't make you a good defender.

Finklemeier stripped the ball from JJ on Saturday, doesn't mean he's a great defender.

Again. I agree it's odd that Rivers would be such a good defender and not get much playing time. But I also think it's odd that in all of these late game situations, Georgetown would to put Rivers in the game on the opposing team's best player if he wasn't a great defender. Ya know? Making the one play against Reynolds doesn't make him a great defender. But it says something that he was the guy they chose to have guarding Reynolds, doesn't it? All I'm saying, is in the absence of ever seeing the guy play basketball, I'll have to take the word of the Georgetown fans, Gtown coaches, and the media over the oddity of Rivers not playing much. When Rivers plays for IU, I'll make my own assessment. Until then, there is absolutely nothing to contradict the stories that Rivers is a very good defender.

Tom Crean is the greatest coach ever. He will win a National Title with VJ3 and Williams. They will have under ten wins as Frosh and over 30 as seniors. IU is right on the brink of being a dynasty
second, third, and fourth.
