Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

OK, much as I hate it, this one is pretty funny. The only good thing is that the number will be getting much smaller soon.

Gotta be able to laugh at yourself IMO.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

FWIW, the school didn't buy out sampson -- and the legal fees got covered by donors too.

I would still call that a loss of money for the university...If they didn't have to buy sampson out the money would have gone to the university instead, no? ^o)

Isn't Crean's contract effectively paid by donors also since the athletic budget comes from all donations?

no, probably not actually. if you do what i do, you'd find out IU donors have big pockets.

I guess what I'm saying is that people donate to the university with a certain amount of money in mind...JMO but I wouldn't think that people would be calling into the IU donation center to give "extra" money to pay off samson than they already have

Come on guys lighten up, it's a joke! I don't care how accurate or even true it is, it's a cleaver idea from someone at a school that has so few cleaver ideas, give him a break.

a certain donor paid of sampson, not a collection. i work in the athletic office, and i take donations on a regular basis. IU's athletic department is pretty unique in that it's run almost completely off donations. i see what you're saying, and that'd be the case for most situations and most schools; but the way IU run things is a little bit different.

I think most athletic departments are run through donations FWIW. Obviously, revenue from tickets and merchandise help, but I'm fairly certain almost all of them are run without state assistance or money from the actual university.

I didn't realize that the donation was done by one donor. I may just be ignorant to how the legality of the situation would work but if IU just would have waited for the NCAA to say that Sampson couldn't coach college for 5 years would that mean that the contract would be broken without IU having to pay?
