Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Apology for what? Asking for what the flip-flop was, something you still haven't provided?

There is plenty to go after Obama on, yet you continue to focus on minutae.

There can be no federal mandate on companies being required to provide medical insurance for gay couples unless the Federal Defense of Marriage Act is repealed. While Obama can seek its' repeal, it can only be repealed by congress.

Articles which point out that certain companies give medical benefits are op-ed pieces which miss the point...there is a huge difference in a company extending benefits and than requiring them to extend benefits. If you expected Obama to enact legislation that defied the Defense of Marriage Act, well, that's something that simply can't be legally done.

Someone sounds a little bit touchy. And of course I read the article. BTW, I just talked with 'the gays.' Nice people, but fellows, my eyes are up here.

I've asked a simple question which you continue to dodge: what was the flip-flop? Again, I ask you, does the president have the ability to repeal an enacted law?

What he hasn't delivered on is the pushing of the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. I would say there certainly are more pressing issues at this time. Will he push for its' repeal in the future? I don't know, but I'm certainly not guaranteeing that he will. But to assume that five months into his presidency that he would have fulfilled every campaign promise is assanine. I have never said anything different than saying that I expect most politicians to not deliver on a large chunk of their promises.

I have said that Obama has been disappointing in many areas, but I'm not simply going to assume wrong doing for the sake of it.

The GLBT is a large faction which won't accept anything short of going from step A to step Z. They view going from step A to b as a backward step, which it is not. It's like PETA saying that a law which outlaws research on cows being a backward step because it doesn't eliminate research on all animals.

Brum, while your assumptions are clearly based in reality, I think that, in general, it is time for us to start holding our politicians much more accountable to their promises and significantly raise our expectations of them. I hear so many people say the same thing you did, and I believe the politicians hear it also and completely take advantage of that mentality.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.
