Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

I'm not sure that the senate has their version of this bill crafted yet, but if this one passes, I assume they will get theirs out there pretty quick. I have heard that Lugar is actually against this (I'm also surprised), but we'll see. Bayh is way up Obama's ass it seems, but he is also in an election year and there are already 3 declared (although you can't officially declare yet) opponents, at least 1 of which is somewhat formidable. One thing we know for sure, whatever move he makes will be for his own political gain, with almost no thought whatsoever to how he really feels about the issue.

National Energy Tax being debate this morning on House floor... A vote is expected on this so-called, "Cap and Trade" legislation by mid afternoon. Over 300 pages added to this bill around 3am this morning. We haven't even been given a chance to read the bill. I'll be fighting against it and advocating for a positive alternative, the American Energy Act.

We HAVE TO stop the practice of voting on legislation that hasn't had a chance to be read. This is a disgraceful practice, which is currently being done by the Democrats...yes this is partisan. With the majority, they are going to keep ramming shit through with no regard for those millions of citizens represented by a Republican in the House. :pissed:

trouble, let me pat you on the back a little harder. Yesterday after Cap & Tax passed, Obama said the following

At the White House, Obama said the bill would create jobs, and added that with its vote, the House had put America on a path toward leading the way toward "creating a 21st century global economy."

"21s century global economy" ....it is getting harder and harder to refute your theories trouble and Obama is now brazen enough to begin articulating it.

Yeah, how dare any member of Congress ever vote in opposition to their party. Each party should just tell its members how to cast their yea/nay vote.
Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.

Scoutin,

it is called the WHIP and the Parties do tell the members how to vote. The 44 Dems against Cap and Trade I thank. The 8 so called Republicans who voted to bankrupt America I hope they all lose in 2010. This bill is absolutely absurd and horrible for America. When the have unemployment benefits in the bill because they know it will cost jobs. When you cannot sell your house unless you first bring it up to energy star status. This bill destroys wealth

The 211 Dems that voted for it suck also.

95% of registered Republicans in the US are against the Cap & Trade bill scoutin', so yes it is terrible that the Republicans who were elected by the republican voters aren't properly representing their constituents.

I'd be interested in seeing a link on that because I'd assert that 95% of registered Republicans -- or Democrats, for that matter -- have no clue what this bill is, or what will result from it. So, let's see it.

No, I'm not. Do you have a link showing that 95% of registered Republicans oppose this bill?

Oh for fuck's sake. The 'global economy' has been here for years.

If we weren't all so stupid with our 'we can do whatever we want to the environment' philosophy, there'd be no need for this bill in the first place.
