http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/07/10/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5150763.shtml Health experts at the Pentagon want a ban on the sale and use of tobacco in the military, USA Today reports. :banghead: When is enough enough? What do you guys think, and particulary BG...what is your take? |
![]() The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism. | |

AaronK, I wonder if it is a smoking ban or a Tobacco ban. I would say 80% of males in Iraq used tobacco. Smoking and dipping was by far the preferred use. I had a pipe and bought tobacco for it and Generals and High ranking officers smoked Cigars. Tobacco use in deployment zones is just a way of life. I don't think the Air Force has the same ratio but The Marines and Army consume a lot of tobacco. Smoking Cigarettes as an officer was frowned upon. Dipping was allowed in meetings. Officers smoked Cigars and dipped. I am against this ban. I understand the health risk associated with these behaviors but in country you need a release. I am not the only Veteran on this board. I am probably the most outspoken Veteran on this board and in the North Carolina Republican Party. |

Fucking bullshit (sorry, I've had a few beers today...). They used to give cigarettes as rations, and now they want to say you can't smoke? Is Nicotine Gum donating to the military now? |

i saw the headline in usa today but didnt read the article. heres an excerpt from your link- "If the proposals are adopted, tobacco products will not be sold at military commissaries. In addition, tobacco use would be banned on military property and tobacco use would be treated similarly to alcohol abuse and poor fitness, according to Army.com." this is an absolute disgrace. the government can send our boys to bumfuck egypt to fight for the new world order, in a series of ill-conceived and poorly planned "wars", yet if they light a marlboro they could be looking at NJP? :banghead: goddamn, the stupidity gets greater everyday. lets not address the $billions of dollars needed for long term care of our injured vets because the pentagon wasnt prepared for guerrila warfare tactics. lets go after TOBACCO. what a bunch of fucking morons. welcome to the communist states of amerika. |
