Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Nice to get recognition, 2nd Top-10 class by Painter in his 4 years.

(obviously all the recruits haven't committed yet, and some guys will go up and some guys till go down, but I'd expect to stay in the top-15 either way)
I didn't read anything but the original post, but I thought it might be interested to find a comparison from last year, since there's a lot of undecideds.

2010 Purdue commits (National rank)
PG Terone Johnson (46)
SG Anthony Johnson (100)
C Travis Carroll
PF Donnie Hale

2009 Minnesota commits (National rank)
SF Royce White (19)
SF Rodney Williams (100)
PG Justin Cobbs
PF Trevor Mbakwe

Minnesota's class ended up at #24 last year.
Does Purdue have any schollies left to give for 2010?

That's an interesting comparison. I would hope we don't fall that far, but in the end, the players aren't going to change, just the ranking. We are oversigned for '10 with the Hale situation, so there definitely won't be any more players added to the class, and possibly would be one taken away. I'll bet anyone $50 though that Johnson goes pro and Hale comes in next year.

I think Johnson set that up by coming out and announcing that he wasn't going pro at the end of the last season when I don't think it occurred to anyone that he would be.

He still would have been drafted last year in my opinion. But it wouldn't have been high, but he has a lot of potential.

But I think you agree it would have been a mistake. His stock would be MUCH higher after this season assuming a normal progression. He is going to have to put on some muscle and weight for the next level. Let's face it, the NBA isn't necessarily about being a basketball player...ever see Antonio Davis?

It definitely would have been a mistake. If you completely take out of the equation any desire to win in college, he has so much more room to improve his stock with another year to prove what he can do (which is a lot more than he did last year). I think he's going to be a 17 pt, 8 board, 3 block player this year while looking a lot better all around while doing it. Granted, my NBA strategic knowledge is pretty limited, but I think there's a niche for him as a very athletic 4. He can pull his man away from the basket, take him on the dribble or shoot a 15-20 footer. He needs to get better guarding away from the hoop, but I think he could be a very strong defense presence in open space as well as under the hoop.
