Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Cleared by the Clearinghouse and will enroll in January. Situation is just like the Beckford deal, he'll still have 5 years to play 4, and is in essence part of the 2010 recruiting class.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Who is he DC,

I have never met a Gabe I liked. I have met a few and they all where ass-hats. Maybe he will be a great player but his name alone starts him off in the hole in my book. :loser: :loser: :loser: :loser:

He's a 6'6 TE from St Thomas Aquinas in FL (thats the best HS football team in the country). He was probably our second best recruit in the '09 class, and he didn't get cleared by the NCAA until the past few days. He's a pretty promising prospect.

It's funny, I've seen listed anywhere from 6'4", 230 lbs, to 6'6", 210 lbs.

Did the Boilers redshirt De'Ron Flood?

Flood is still in HS. He's a senior this year.

Gotcha. Think there is any chance he may look to back out now that Holmes is cleared?

I have no idea, but I doubt it. Our OC has said (and showing it a little more) that the TE will be a huge part of the offense. We'll see a lot of two TE sets, so depth at that position is key. And Flood committed with the knowledge that Holmes was going to be at Purdue.

I thought Gabe Cox was a decent receiver back in the Brees era.

St. Thomas Aquinas isn't just a football factory, they are fabulous at nearly everything. Especially golf if I can remember correctly. Sounds like a very good get for you guys.

Yup, when he committed about a year ago, one of the guys who runs the FL HS site on Rivals thought he was the best TE prospect in the state of FL. Plus he's been around a lot of winning, so that's got to be a positive.

Well, I would guess that guy was pretty alone in his thinking....Holmes is ranked by rivals as the 39th best TE in the 2009 class, which I wouldn't say is normal for the best TE in Florida.

Not that I wouldn't take the 39th ranked anything at IU.

Just telling you what a guy whose lone job is to follow FL HS football. Its easier to get a good read on recruits when you only have to follow one state, and not the whole country. Just like I trust the opinions more of what some of the people who follow just IN HS basketball a little more than a guy who tries to cover the whole country. Those sites do a good job, and are pretty solid, but its next to impossible to get everything right.
