Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

So there you go, it was inevitable that a movie would be made about Dec 21, 2012. I'll probably see it out of sheer curiosity. I know this subject has popped up before but let me know honestly how many of you buy into this end of the world.

Wasn't the world supposed to end on Dec 3rd, like 1992 or something? Or there was going to some huge catastrophic earthquake? Help me out here, i know someone knows what i am talking about.
Anyway, the people that believe this shit are ridiculous, and i too will be laughing at them on the day after.

Well I can confirm that the Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/12 or whatever the date is. The Mayans are still credited by many to have the most accurate date tracking system ever made. Unbelievable to think about since they didn't have all the technology we do now. So it's sort of understandable why people buy into this kind of thing.

Now the way I understood it was like this. The thing about the calendar that never gets mentioned though is that it's circular. It's pretty much a series of 2 (or 3?) circles, one inside another, that move against each other like gears. So even though 12/21/12 is the last date on their calendar, it doesn't mean the world is going to end. The calendar is circular and so it simply starts over from the beginning.

The most common theory I have heard about how the world will end is by the Yellowstone supervolcano. I think if Yellowstone really did erupt in this kind of way it would definitely push people to the brink of extinction. Still though, there are so many people on earth that I can't imagine NO ONE would survive. Try as the earth might, I think we're going to be here for a very long time.

So to answer your question. Yeah, I'll see the movie. I like watching things blow up.

Yeah I know about the Yellowstone volcano, that would be my bet as well. I love disaster movies, so even though I dont buy into it, it'll be a fun movie I'm guessing.

Fuck the Mayans. All they did was give us Mayanaisse and Maya Angelou and now we're supposed to think they're the shit?
