Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

More outstanding coaching at the end of the game.

Spike after a first down. Don't even go for the end zone on 2nd.
Did we have a TO there? If we did, probably should have used it there.

Edit: Yes, we did have a TO, and should have used it there. Gives you 4 shots at the end zone. And I absolutely hated the screen pass after the spike, dumb play call there.
So I guess the 'he's in a position that we aren't, so he knows more' only applies when you want it to.
No, he still knows more than you or I, or anyone who posts on this board.

Its comical that people say that stuff about coaches. "Hope hasn't shown me he knows shit". Yes, because he'd be a Division 1 head football coach without knowing shit.
There is more to coaching than game management. Bill Lynch can recruit and seems to do a good job with handling his players....but, yeah, I think he play calls for shit.

Your stance is basically no one on this board should ever question any decision since 'we aren't in that position.' Well, fuck, WHY do we even have this board?
Did you not see me question not calling a TO there? How about the screen play?

I question the coach plenty, I don't blindly question it when we lose just to bitch. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I disagree. I tend to error on the side of agreeing because there is a reason they are college football coaches and I'm a college student, you are a HS teacher, bobo is a homebuilder, and UB is gay porn star.

Bill Lynch can recruit? Who knew. And Bill Lynch also doesn't call plays from what I know. Isn't the O coordinator Matt Canada?
There are also reasons why coaches get fired.

And yeah, you questioned the TO while previously stating that people shouldn't complain because they aren't head coaches.

And UB isn't a gay porn star. He barely warrents being a gay porn extra.

I said people shouldn't complain because they aren't head coaches?
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Fine, even I will say it now.

It's a rebuilding year.
Rebuilding years are always painful to watch. One exception is the '97 team, when Tiller brought an offensive scheme that B10 coaches didn't initially take seriously, and took much of the league by storm.

We've known all along that wasn't going to happen this year. We don't have much talent, and we have virtually no experience at skill positions.
I still like what I see overall. Fix the stupid mistakes and develop some experience at the skill positions and this will be a decent program. Just the dumb mistakes like losing the turnovers is inexcusable. I don't necessarily fault our team as much as I give NW credit for ripping the ball away. Still, we can't let that happen. Take the stupid turnovers away and this team wins relatively easily.

Turnovers are a sign of an inexperienced team. All other aspects look good, and to be honest as much as the defense had their backs against the wall, again, they played rather exceptionally. You just can't ask them to play the whole damn game and come away with a win, no matter who you are.

Honestly next year may not be much better since we won't have an experienced QB. This may be a tough couple years to swallow until the staff gets some continuity of coaching together and we develop the skill positions.
Maybe not an experienced QB, but possibly a more talented one with a more experienced receiving corps (and Bolden). Time will tell.

I don't care anymore about the record. The team on the field, the staff, the recruits coming in, the playcalling are all better than what we had the last few years. Execution is all we are lacking, and thats all a part of experience or lack thereof. Once this program is back on the tracks this will be a good program again. Only way from here is UP!

The line needs to prove it can run block. The defense loses 5, possibly 6 starters, including the entire secondary with little experience behind it.

The passing game could be pretty good if Marve is healthy by Spring ball. We only lose Valentin from the WRs, and all those FL kids will have a whole year under their belts, plus having Smith back and the two JUCO guys being in their second year.

Next year could be ugly also. Year 3 is when the heat will be on Hope.

When you respond to someone criticizing a coach by saying, 'He knows more than you or I', then either you're saying you shouldn't question the coach, or your nametag reads 'Captain Obvious'.

He probably does know more about college football than myself, but that doesn't mean his decisions are always better than mine. The difference between a poor coach and a great coach is simply that one rarely makes better decisions than myself while the other almost always makes a better decision. There's nothing wrong with calling out a coach when they choose the wrong action.
If you think a coach makes a poor decision, I'm fine with that. I enjoy the arguments back and forth regarding that. Hell, I loved the argument about the ND TO.

When did I say we shouldn't question decisions?

Saying that a D1 football coach doesn't know shit is stupid.
"Hope hasn't shown me he knows shit." That's what I said. I haven't seen Hope's coaching before his present position, so this season is all I have to go on. That's just an opinion, you have those from time to time.

Maybe it was a rash call I admit. It was partly a reaction to the debacle du jour and partly a reaction to your comment about Hope's knowledge.

So far, he has shown me that he knows how to lose games he should have won.

If you're going to call me stupid, at least get the fucking quote RIGHT.

So another game lost in the 4th quarter.

Though the coaches lost that game the second they called the slant from our own 2.

Also, this program is on a very big down swing. 47k in the stands for homecoming?

Hard to recruit with displays like today's.
