Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

how can even any turdue fan root for Orton? he a first class jerk as I'm sure he was in college.
I don't care if he is an ass or not, he's still a Purdue alum and any success he has in the NFL may translate into recruiting for our FB program.

Orton has been much better than expected. All of the experts are singing his praises now, but am I the only one that realizes Denver's offense is worse than it was last year? And Chicago's offense is better than last year. The Orton lovefest needs to cool down a bit.
The Broncos lost five games last year by two touchdowns or more...it certainly helps to pad your stats when you are throwing against prevent defenses.

The major difference between Denver last year and this year is the defense....but to think there is no relationship between the offense and defense isn't correct. It most certainly helps the defense out when the offense isn't turning the ball over. Orton's turned it over once all season. Cutler turned it over 20 times last year.

Orton has averaged 7.55 yards per throw in Denver; Cutler averaged 7.35 there last year. If Cutler was a pro bowl quarterback when he was there, then Orton most definitely is.

Don't know if you caught this, but during the Atlanta game after Cutler had thrown an interception in the red zone, but that was his seventh int in the red zone in the past season and a half. No other QB has more than 3 during that span.

That's true and Cutler's gun slinging ways also meant more big plays, faster scores and less rest for the defense. The sustained drives Orton puts together (along with the fewer turnovers) helps the defense rest. I'm just saying it's not like Denver now has some great offense with Orton that they didn't have before.
My contention would be that part of the reason the offense put up points and gave up points last year in Denver is related to the gun-slinging ways. It's a risk-reward situation that I don't think in the end really served Denver well.

BTW, the Bears just extended Cutler for two years to the tune of something like $30 million. Have we really seen anything that would warrant tying up cap space like that?

What I was saying is that when kids see 2 QB's from Purdue who are having success (for whatever reason) at the next level it helps recruiting. Regardless of personality, or whether you or anyone else thinks he sucks, he still is a starting QB in the NFL, and on top of that his team is 6-0.

No offense, but are you seriously trying to argue with UB about how having players in the NFL form your school is good for recruiting?

Players from your school being in the NFL = always good

There is no argument. Don't fall for the bait.

Actually I would say it is a good thing for VT. Recruits look at the fact that VT turned Micheal Vick a Dual-Threat qb at the college level into the number 1 pick in the draft and they think hey that could be me. You are underestimating the support in the lower poverty communities that Micheal Vick has.

I guess that is a valid view if you think society has a collective IQ of 40

No but I believe players like Terrel Pryor has already once supported Micheal Vick already this season. The backlash from that came from middle america. I just don't think there is much backlash on a program from mistakes that people make after they leave. If it came back that vick was fighting dogs at VT with Beemer taking and placing bets then it would have a backlash against the program but your basic athlete is going to look at it and say well they turned him into a great pick and he threw it away. I just don't see top black dual threat QBs turning away VT because of Micheal Vick
