Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Virginia, who I also thought sucked, has impressively turned it around since week 1 or 2.
Must just be a mirage. According to Dough-mer excusemakers, it is not possible for a team to improve that much during the season.

as for USC - they speak for themselves. starting a freshman QB - won at OSU in week 2. they will keep getting better and better. beating Cal at Cal by 40 speaks volumes.

they seem to always lose a sleep walk game on the PAC road and then steamroll the rest of the schedule.
The logic you're using against OSU can easily be used against USC. Lost to UW, and almost blew a three TD lead on the mediocre Gomers. The only difference right now is that USC was able to come back and squeak past the Buckeyes.

first off: UW is better than turdue

Second: Turdue dominated OSU pretty much the entire game; USC statistically dominated UW but turned it over 5 times mostly when driving and lost by 3.

Third: USC has better quality wins than OSU who has really beaten nobody

Fourth: If you don't realize with your own 2 eyes that USC is clearly better than OSU, you should stop watching sports

So let me understand this

The Big Ten sucks and has "no truly good teams", ND would be the 2nd best team in the Big Ten (according to to Sagrin) but somehow this equates to Notre Dame being a good team

UB what does 2+2 equal in your eyes????
The 'second best team in the Big Ten' refers to is misleading....and Sagarin would tell you that.

Sagarin tells you directly on his website that the best single measure of team quality is his predictor rating....which would tell you that Notre Dame would be behind Iowa, Ohio State, and Penn State are all better than Notre Dame.

Sagarin was pretty much forced to create an 'ELO CLASS' rating to remain part of the BCS computer rating system...this system doesn't factor in scoring margin in any game, so a close win and a blowout win get recorded as equals. The overall rating that would put ND as second in the Big Ten is one that averages the two.

If Notre Dame were in the Big Ten, I think they would be one of the teams fighting for the two spot....I think there are five teams basically at the same level as ND (Ohio State, Penn State....overrated considering their 106th ranked schedule, Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin). So I'd say there is one team that is clearly better than ND, five around the same, and five worse. But I think it's been shown that teams near th bottom can upset those teams just below, especially if they play at home.

Just for interest's sakes, here's how Sagarin would say that ND would perform against Big Ten teams:

Home/Neutral/Away

Iowa: pick'em/Iowa by 3/Iowa by 7
Ohio State: ND by 2/Ohio State by 2/Ohio State by 5
Penn State: ND by 3/pick'em/Penn State by 4
Michigan: ND by 8/ND by 4/ND by 1
Michigan State: ND by 9/ND by 5/ND by 2
Wisconsin: ND by 11/ND by 7/ND by 4
Purdue: ND by 16/ND by 12/ND by 7
Indiana: ND by 23/ND by 19/ND by 15
Northwestern: ND by 23/ND by 19/ND by 16
Illinois: ND by infinity

Both teams were mediocre-to-good in September.

One team got better, the other didn't. I can see where you'd empathize with the team that didn't.
