Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Well aware of the situation.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Oh yeah, and that scrub with only offers from Purdue, Butler, and IUPUI is Gordon Hayward.
who?

The player who plays for Butler and would be far and away the best player on IU's roster this year.
Considering that he's very similar to Hummel, hard to say that you couldn't say the same about him on Purdue.
He wouldn't be far and away the best player on the team. He'd be in the discussion with JJ/Hummel/Moore.
Just saying it's not like he's some nobody. The guy would be the lead player on most NCAA div 1 teams this year.
Did I say he was a nobody?

He's a very good somebody, who had offers from Purdue/Butler/IUPUI. The offer list isn't always a great indication, especially for a player who didn't play AAU basketball prior to his senior year.
He had a major growth spurt that had a lot to do with that as well. When someone goes from a guard to a stick in High School, it's pretty risky to take them on. I'm sure I wouldn't mind him on our team, but I think defenses focusing on Matt Howard helped him out a ton. The U-19 team is basically a group of no names as well, so it's hard to judge from that. The only Butler game I saw last year seemed like Matt Howard as the star with a bunch of average players getting looks from his double teams, so I'll have to try and pay more attention to him this year.

From what I've heard of Watford and Creek though, I'd say it's pretty early to say he's far and away better than them.

The U-19 team was a bunch of no-names? You do realize that Watford and Creek were eligible for that team and there were HS kids picked for the team?

Hayward is getting preseason All-American talk, so I'd say he's pretty far ahead of two players who have never played a collegiate basketball game and aren't exactly blue chip, sure fire stars.

Hummel did that. Part of the reason he was such a good ball handler was he a guard until about his sophomore year when he a growth spurt.

Hummel's younger brother might do that as well. He was a sophomore this past year, lanky and about 6'3"....but no facial hair and you can tell he's gonna grow. He was on Valpo's JV this past year but was clearly their best player on JV and if they weren't so senior oriented, he would have been a major player on their varsity. Expect that next year you'll start hearing about him and could be one of those guys that by his senior year is all of a sudden a D1 player.

BTW, I think talking about Hayward as being an all-american is pretty premature. I certainly do see him being on any national first, second, or third team.

I'd rather have Hayward than Howard, but Howard certainly is no slouch. Hayward is a more complete player and I love him going forward.

Howard, though, is the returning conference player of the year.

Where did I say that Howard was a slouch? I think he's a very good player, but I think Hayward is better.

You do understand by saying that one player is better than the other, I'm not putting down either player?

Insecure and defensive? No, you were making it seem like I was downplaying Howard, so I let you know that I wasn't.
