When did I say that decommitting or transferring doesn't happen? It happens fairly often. Jesse Berry, Dom Ferguson, Christian Watford (he played for a couple of different teams), Harrison Barnes (couple of different teams) and Demetrius Walker just off the top of my head come to mind. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

When you say that they played for a couple of different teams are you saying: A. That they changed teams mid summer or from one year to the next and B. That they didn't change teams as the team they were playing on had their AAU season end? Additionally, you are talking about big name players who could easily play for any AAU team. Williams really isn't that type of player. The decommiting statement is about the fact that it happens quite a bit (certainly much more than it did in the past...hell, one guy whose list of five we are on, Selby, is a decommit from Tennessee)...I'm not sure what the big to-do about Williams decommiting is, if he chooses to do so. The transfer statement is intended for Evil's assertion that Crean 'forced' Story and Nick Williams out and was doing the same with David Williams...players transfer. Would anyone say that Matt Painter forced Scott Martin to transfer? Seems to me his reasons for transfer (not liking his role on the team) are the same reasons that Nick Williams gave (along with wanting to be closer to home). I'm on record as saying that I don't think Crean forced those guys out. The only guys Matt Painter has ever forced out are the ones he kicked out of the program for disciplinary reasons. I agree that decommitting happens. Heck, a PG decommitted from Iowa State last week and then recommitted back to Iowa State this week. I don't think its a big to-do at all. I just don't think its happened yet with Williams and that its all conjecture at this point. And then people are giving reasons for why something that hasn't happened is happening (like playing time, which hasn't changed since he's committed). Watford played for a different team than his normal team at the May Classic in 2008. I'm not sure if he went back to his other team, or stayed with the team he played on there. But switching teams throughout the summer is not a rare thing at all. |

I don't believe anyone has said that Williams HAS decommitted...but there are reasons to believe that he might. You need to go back to the beginning of the thread to understand why people were giving reasons that he would decommit: in the second post of the thread, BoilerBasketball asked 'why would he decommit?' I gave a response, someone else tried to say that they didn't believe it, and it just snowballed from there. So in answer to your question, people are giving reasons for an even that may or may not happen because it was asked. |

Most of seems centered on playing time. What forward has committed since he's committed that has changed the playing time picture? |

Just a sec -- if you think it's so silly to talk about something that hasn't happened, why do you continue to post on it? And I've already covered the part about playing time.....Williams is a swingman. And even if he were only a small forward, we already have guys that swing back and forth between shooting guard and small forward, so signing a shooting guard DOES affect playing time. Again, I ask you: if Lewis Jackson gets hurt, are you going to tell me that Keaton Grant doesn't get a little more time? They don't play the same position, but there is an obvious ripple effect. Because I'm bored out of my mind and there is nothing else to talk about (I'm watching stat tracker update on NBA games currently). And I enjoy talking recruiting. |

From what I've read/heard, Williams is more of a 3/4 combo forward. Oladipo is more of a true wing/2 guard. I don't think they'll play/guard similar positions at IU. Lewis Jackson and Keaton Grant share a position, I don't think that Oladipo and Williams would have. |

I have never heard anybody consider Williams a power forward. Look at most of the press releases when he signed and they'll tell you he was a guard. At First Coast, he is listed as a shooting guard and point guard. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/Wv-WHaBAdU-j9HoYFFiQ-Q/first-coast-buccaneers/basketball-winter-08-09/roster.htm I see nothing ever to indicate that he's a power forward....at most, I've seen him mentioned as a SG/SF. |

He's 6'6/6'7 200-210 pounds. He doesn't shoot the ball well, he isn't very quick or athletic. He'll never be able to play the guard position in the B10. He'd have a shot at the combo forward. Playing guard on his HS team doesn't mean much to me. Robbie Hummel played PG quite a bit for Valpo. |

Ummmm.....I saw Hummel play a LOT at Valpo. Anyone who is telling you he played 'quite a bit of point guard' for Valpo is blowing smoke up your ass. I'm not even saying he couldn't have played the point, but that he didn't. I would like you to link up sources saying that David Williams will be a power forward at the college level. Spouting his size (which is undersized for a college PF) doesn't mean anything. |

God its so hard to keep up with everything going on in threads like this. I make a post, and then am busy for a day and when I revisit the thread I'm lost. |
