Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Ummmm.....I saw Hummel play a LOT at Valpo. Anyone who is telling you he played 'quite a bit of point guard' for Valpo is blowing smoke up your ass. I'm not even saying he couldn't have played the point, but that he didn't.

I would like you to link up sources saying that David Williams will be a power forward at the college level. Spouting his size (which is undersized for a college PF) doesn't mean anything.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/bigten/2009-10-06-purdue-preview_N.htm

"Hummel can play every position. At Valparaiso (Ind.) High School, he played point guard."

I've also read/heard stuff that Painter said about him playing PG in HS.

And just repeating the fact that he'll be playing power forward completely ignores that I said combo forward. 6'6/6'7 isn't really all that small for a college power forward. He'll never be a 2 at the high college level.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

And just saying over and over that he's a 'combo forward' doesn't make him one. I expect he'll mostly be a wing....and again all I've asked for is a link of someone....anyone....that says he'll ever be a power forward. I don't think that's too much to ask for.

In terms of Hummel playing point guard, there is a difference between saying 'he can play every position, he played point guard' and 'in high school, he played quite a bit of point guard.' As I've said, I saw Hummel quite a bit in high school and he didn't play point in any game I saw. I can tell you that unlike Martin, who was always tall growing up, that Hummel hit a huge growth spurt between his freshman and sophomore years. He was a guard as a freshman (when he wasn't on the varsity), but not thereafter.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed
