 I was about to respond to that as well. Free throws might be the ONLY thing that you can judge a team on by purely looking at statistics. |

So you don't think steals or quick turnovers influence the numbers? You think Purdue isn't plodding based solely on being in the top 50% of possessions........without watching the games? It's nice to see you avoiding the issue............once again the victim of just looking at stats without watching games. Just like the NYJ defense doesn't get pressure on the QB because they don't have many sacks right? Just like Cliff Lee didn't dominate NL hitting right?.........even though his BB/K ratio went through the roof. When you aren't scared of hitters you get more aggressive.....which leads to more strikes being thrown......which leads to more Ks and fewer BBs...... Your statistical analysis is often flawed and short sighted. There are many factors that contribute to whether a team is plodding, just looking at total possessions is moronic at best. |

Mr. 40th ranked free throws doesn't get the right to lecture others on statistics. But, hey you're right.....Purdue being in the upper 50% is evidence that they are a plodding offense. Moron. |

What about the fact that Purdue's defense a lot of the time forces teams to use 30-35 seconds off of the shot clock? Wouldn't that skew the numbers the other way? Purdue isn't trying to slow the game down, they are just playing good defense. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

The way a team plays defense will also lower the number of possessions/game they get. If you play good defense and force a team to use all of the shot clock to look for a decent shot, you will get less possessions and in turn score less points. Edit: I missed Cams post above. lol You call it bleeding, any educated basketball person would call it working for a good shot. |
