Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Looks like the injury bug is back early this year.

Great makes an already thin front court even thinner. Looks like we will be leaning on Bade for the first month or so of the season.

Not sure he was gonna play that much early in the season cause everything being said is that he is still pretty raw but will hurt his development for later in the season.

I'd imagine he and Bade were going to get at least some time in about every game by default. Someone has to go in at center, Johnson can't play for 40 minutes a game.

Duh JJ won't have to play 40 minutes when we are up by 20 with 8 minutes to go in every game. I doubt JJ see's the court in the last 6 minutes of and OOC game.

Well that sucks. We're definitely gonna need a little depth behind Johnson at the 5. Everything I've heard on Bade is that he's definitely not ready either. Hopefully Sandi can come back fast, the Wake Forest game is only 5 weeks away...

Bummer. We need him and he needs experience.

Hope he makes a good recovery.

This is definitely not a positive, but also not the end of the world. Our strength going into this year was returning our top 6 players. That's not going to change. It just puts more pressure on Bade and Byrd to be ready.

DJ Byrd has been practicing with the big men all year and Painter considers him a combo forward. He'll play the Marcus Green role of last, but have more offense.

Bade really needs to step up. Barlow has been impressive, but he is more of a guard/wing, and we are crowded there, but his size, athleticism, and defense may get him on the court.

We'd be better off having Marcius in the fold early on, but its obviously not the end of Purdue's 2009-2010 season.

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Update on Sandi....

According to Painter, 6-9 freshman center Sandi Marcius is recovering nicely from a broken right foot and could be ready to play Dec. 9 vs. Valparaiso or Dec. 12 at Alabama.

"He is doing a good job, but he is not running yet," Painter said. "So, he is not out there testing it yet. We're hoping he can get back around that second week of December.

"But we will see how he does once he gets out of the (protective) boot and does some light jogging in a couple of weeks."

I hope he can come back and provide some productive minutes. We need probably 15 minutes a game from him and Bade, and I'd rather they at least hold their own instead of being liabilities.
