Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

lol.

how in the hell do you expect to get anybody to come to IU if you cant honor lynch's contract? how can you expect to take a perenial cellar-dweller, sell it to a prospective coach, sign HIM to a 5-year deal, and have him looking over his shoulder after 2 bad years?
we have to bite the bullet until his contract is up and go that route. firing him sets the FB program back another 10 years.
i think you guys are too jumpy and snippy on this issue.
Which is my point...but BoilerAT apparently isn't getting it.

I think Bill Lynch is a horrible coach and was upset when he was named the coach after the one-year interim status.

But IU has made it a bad practice to not do the leg work and make a quick, bad hire....how many coaches have we had that we were paying on their contract after they were fired?

We've had no stability and even though I don't think Lynch is the guy for the job, going through three year cycles of football coaches is never going to let you know when you have the right guy. And it's time that contracts DID start to mean something again at Indiana. Firing Lynch now would just mean we would have even less money to pay a new guy as we'd be paying two contracts.

When the contract is up, if he's not the guy we need (and I don't think he will be), then I'll be the first guy insisting on his firing.

see Oregon State.

they sucked and I mean SUCKED forever, brought in Dennis Erickson and he went 9-3 his first season.

tired of the IU excuses. If NW can make a rose bowl and become a pretty decent program that beats UM and OSU every once in a while, makes decent bowls and wins a steady 7 or more games, than anyone can do it.

IU fans and alums are complete excuse makers when it comes to football.
Wrong. If you want to make an argument, be accurate.

Dennis Ericson went 7-5 in his first year at Oregon State...and the previous team had went 5-6, so it wasn't exactly a huge jump. Mike Riley had the foundation set in place. They went 11-1 the next year and ended the year ranked #4.

But once it started being his own talent playing, he didn't match the success he had with Riley's groups. He went 5-6 in 2001 despite being Sports Illustrated's preseason #1 and then followed that up with an 8-5 season before he once again exited for the NFL.

That's the type of risk you run when you hire a guy like Ericson.....plus when he jumped to the NFL the first time after coaching the Miami Hurricanes, they were put on probation a few months later due to lack of institutional control.

I don't agree as well. We just spent an absolute shitload of money on our stadium. If you haven't been in Bloomington this year, then you're missing out. It looks absolutely amazing. That's either going to be the spark to help us land some recruits and get moving up the incline or the money hole that sinks IU Athletics for decades.
