Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

nevermind 12 or so of those BT titles were back in the peach basket era and the Model T was the car of choice and the BT as we know it didn't really exist.

fast forward to modern times, turdue is well behind about everyone in BT titles

lol. some people just love BT titles. I mean, it's good and all, I'd love to win one sometime in the near future -- but schools like Illinois who hang an individual banner for each BT championship is a bit excessive.

I thinking bragging about past success that has zero relevance to the immediate future is stupid in any way shape or form, whether its B10 championships, wins against an opponent, etc.

But that was a luncheon that's intent was to get people excited about the basketball season. Who really cares what was being said there?
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

true. they wanted to raise some moolah, and let's face it, morgan burke's statement was nothing compared to what jagweeds like lane kiffin said.

Some people get excited with that stuff, especially the rich alums. Morgan Burke was just playing the game.

I guarantee thats not the ultimate goal for him, Matt Painter, or anyone involved with the Purdue basketball program.

What was he supposed to say at a luncheon like that? "Hey, although we have never won an NCAA title and suck, we're going to be better...... now, can you please donate thousands of dollars to our program? Thanks."

I'll take the opposite stance and say that I think it is completely appropriate for a school to embrace their history. Purdue has more Big Ten championships than any other school. That's impressive. Why would an athletic director not mention that at a fundraiser or anywhere else for that matter? So they've never won the big one. Whoopie. Every school is going to harp on what makes them look good. It would be a disservice to the athletes that came before to not acknowledge the great contributions they made to the University simply because it doesn't have an immediate effect in the future.

according to what you just posted, he shouldn't have talked about the past at all. just the future.

all i pointed out was what your AD said and how he wanted to harp on the past...

Hey, I wish he wouldn't have really, but unfortunately, thats what some people want to hear. He was playing the game.

Do you really think one comment about the past is harping on the past? Did you read the rest of the article or listen to the whole speech?

The same kind of people that get excited about that are the ones who get excited by GBI blurbs that preach to the choir.

Bringing up the conference titles is fine...but then taking a jab at the school down south whom has an obvious slam dunk rebuttal to the statement is just setting yourself up.
