  • 1st High School Player to jump to NBDL.
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Latavious Williams became the first player to jump straight from High School to the NBDL. He decided to do this instead of China. I don't know what happened with his college commitment, but this maybe the first of many to make the jump. What do any of you think?

Williams was known for struggling in school. It won't surprise me if a couple of players do this over the years, but this certainly will not become a trend.

Wasn't that under Sampscum? I am glad he didn't commit to IU.

It will become a trend once the NBA enacts a 2 years removed from HS rule........either that or the NCAA institutes some sort of penalty for schools that bring in the 1 and done players. If a guy leaves early for the NBA, maybe the NCAA should still count his scholarship as being 'taken'.........AAU and 1 and dones are eroding the quality of the college game

I still think more will opt for Europe than the NBDL. 1 or 2 years, MUCH better money, better competition.

Aren't the players in the NBDL all have either been drafted in the NBA or played college basketball?

Yeah. I'd say more college guys than exNBAers. Still, the Europeans are guys that have been playing professionally for years. Much better cometition I think.

I would say 'different' competition. Less athleticism, more finesse. I see it pretty even on that front, but I'd say the pay is better in Europe.

Have read though were in Europe were you may not get a lot of playing time. You will play one game then not play at all for 2 or 3 games. I think it was Brandon Jennings who I read this about.

It's true. But he also practiced a ton and credited Europe with teaching him defense and a jump shot. There's positives and negative to everything, but he made $1mil in Europe when the starting salary in the NBDL is like 30K.
