Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

Here are the current scholarship numbers I found on ITH. I don't quite understand the one over signing. Can we go up to 14 scholarships or is 13 the limit? If Crean signs two more recruits this year, wouldn't that put us at 14 next year? Can someone please explain this for the 19th time on this message board.

You can only ever have 13 scholarships on the roster. When recruits sign for future classes you can have up to 14 scholarships "signed". By the time those recruits get to campus, however, you have to be down to the 13 limit.

If Crean signs two more this year, by my math that would give us 14 for the 2011-2012 season. Maybe he is thinking either Watford or Creek will go pro after their sophomore year. If not, that means someone will have to transfer. If you redshirt someone, can you have 14 on scholarship? It just doesn't make sense for Crean to possibly sign two for the 2010-2011 season if he can't go up to 14.

That means he expects someone to leave. Pretty good odds that there will at least be one departure over the next two years.

You can sign 14, but have to be down to 13 by the time the season starts. Redshirted players count against your scholarship limit.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I don't think he'll sign 2 more for 2010. I think one more for '10 and one mre for '11.

I donno, Sheely is pretty much a lock for IU and he is going hard after Kendrick and Shelby. And UB said Kendrick is a lock so you know he will end up at IU if UB said it.

I don't think Sheehey is a lock. Tons of talk always happens around the time a kid visits. Every day that he doesn't commit lowers the chance of him ending up here. And Kendrick and Shelby? Long shots. Obviously if he signs Sheehy and Kendrick commits, he'll take him. Otherwise I think it's just 1 for 2010 and 1 for 2011.

Let's say, hypothetically, that Sheehey and Kendrick commit. Does the same thing happen to either Etherington or Carlino that happened to Williams? It could turn out to be a sticky situation if two more commit.

I think it's more likely someone from another class leaves before Etherington or Carlino decommit. Hulls's class is very big. I think at least 1 or 2 leave from that class.

Don't worry, Crean has no reservations about yanking scholarships to make room for more talented players.

I've said this before (and everybody but Evil probably agrees), but I think at this stage in the rebuilding process, after 2 large incoming classes, it's much more likely to have a transfer or two in the next 2 years than to have nobody leave.
