Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Just finished reading American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House by Jon Meacham. I'm not a huge biography reader, although I did really enjoy Prince of Darkness by Robert Novak, however this book was very accessible. Its hard to describe exactly how it reads, but its non-fiction that almost feels like a novel. It covers his two terms in the white house and then sort of summarizes the rest of his life. Its amazing the insights through letters and what not, the detail that Meacham attains into the innerworkings of the Jackson white house. Its also amazing the differences in Washington culture from then until today. I highly recommend this book. Jackson was such an interesting person, and had a very unique character who vastly expanded presidential power to a large part of what we see today.
"I think Ronald Reagan was the best President of our lifetime." -- Johnny Ramone
"Something you Democrats would never understand: Americans - we're homesteaders. We want a safe home, keep the money we make, and shoot bad guys."
- William Shatner as Denny Crane, Boston Legal

I have heard good things about it, and have been wanting to read it. Unfortunately i have no time. I am not a big fan of Jackson's policy type decisions, but on a personal level, i have found the man fascinating since i was a kid. I started reading seriously when i was in 4th grade, and is was a biography about Jackson that started my love affair with books.

Seriously, the dude was participating in duels while he was President. C'mon, that is badass.
