Just saw in the Indy Star that Jackson had surgery today on his foot. No word on how long his recovery is going to take. http://www.indystar.com/article/20091117/SPORTS/91117021/Foot-surgery-sidelines-Purdue-guard-Jackson |

So, having Grant play point again is the obvious fill-in for LewJack. Would you think Barlow becomes the PG from the bench, or the rotation shifts to keep Kramer or Moore or Hummel bringing the ball up when Grant sits and a freshman steps in at the 2 or 3? |

If we have a comfortable lead, I think we might see Barlow at the point. But in most cases, I think PG duty will be shared by Kramer and Grant...just like two years ago. Possibly Moore at the 2 a lot, with Byrd at the 3. It'll be interesting to see how Painter handles it. |

then turdue is in trouble. Creemer is not a PG - in fact he's terrible at it as for Grant, he's better than Creemer but he's more of a 2g that and depth will be why turdue flames out early once again for the 30 th straight year |

Huge loss. Has a direct impact on how Matt sets up his game plan, substitutions, everything. He's the only real up tempo guy we have and the best penetrator. With him and Sandy down......hate how this is starting out. |

Fuck, I guess KG will be the real X factor this season. KG is best as a catch and shoot guy when the ball comes back out. Playing point it is gonna be hard for him to be set when receiving the ball. KG seemed to be ok with coming off the bench because he still got his minutes. This will hurt the rotation and the amount of rest KG gets. This will affect the tempo we play at. Not a great sign for the team but WE SHALL OVERCOME!!!! |

Definitely gonna hurt, but it won't kill Grant's game. He played a lot of point his sophomore year when he was stellar. With the motion offense, the ball moves around so much that he'll still get a lot of opportunities catching it on the perimeter. The biggest problem is going to be what to do with the rotation when Grant needs to sit. |

I think IU's ploy to sign only Guards and corner the market on them is starting to work. This hurts us, especially in tandem with Marcius breaking his foot.(not that we know how much he is going to be a factor in the paint). I hope we have gotten these injuries out of our system or it is going to be a LOOOOOONG painful could have been type of season. |

+1 PG in the motion offense doesn't just set people up. He'll have plenty of chances to catch and shoot. This is a big loss, especially defensively. He's very important to what we do there. I think we'll see Barlow in the game quite a bit handling the ball. He's really impressed and has some tools that can help this team win this year. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Maybe this brings Smith off the bench and his shooting will open up the court. Painter will just have to watch the lineup and really think about when to sub. We need to always have three starters on the court and a rotation that compliments that because JJ or Rob will always have to be out there and now we lose are point and the solid 6th man, because he becomes a starter. |
